I need a bit of advice from anyone who's had a similar problem to me. I'm 35 years old and came off the pill in march last year after taking the pill for about 15 years.
I got a withdrawal bleed and I started getting period with varried cycle lengths between 32 and 40 days. I got one period with a 29 day cycle but after that they've been getting further and further apart (50 day, 60 days now on 83 days and no period).
I've seen my GP who seems to think this could just be normal for me. This can't be normal!
They've done a blood test just before my 60 day cycle which confirmed ovulation but I'm now left waiting with nothing for 83 days.
I do ovulation test daily I have never had a positive result. they are always very faint to pretty much not present. My temp varies widely day to day and noticed no difference in mucus.
On my last visit to the GP they agreed to refer me to a fertility clinic. But the clinic has refused the referral because I've not been trying for 12 months! Despite the NHS website saying if you are over 35 contact your doctor after 6 months.
Has anyone experienced similar with cycles getting further apart? Or anyone else been refused to be seen by a clinic despite a GP referral and irregular periods.
I know I've not been trying that long but I'm getting very stressed at the increasing time between periods. Any similar stories and the outcome would be welcome. Thanks x

Sorry you are having this stress. I have very long cycles, going into over 100 days apart sometimes. I have only ever once had a positive OPK and my temps are quite erratic so I have stopped doing both now as I was stressing myself out. I am 35 and have seen the gynae but to be honest he really wasnt helpful at all, said there wouldnt be a problem until I hit 40 and lose weight. Well genius I do have a mirror in my house and am well aware and I am working on that but he was not interested in anything at all. I am still TTC and just keeping my fingers crossed, the more I stressed about the length of my cycles, the longer they lasted- little devils! x

Thanks sparklegirl. I'm sorry you are having a similar problem but glad that I'm not totally weird. Doctors are terrible with age, before I came off the pill they kept warning me that I wasn't getting any younger (who is!) But now I'm asking for help they are happy just to keep me waiting. Fingers crossed for both of us.

They can be useless they really can. They might as well have said to me you are too fat to have or deserve a baby so go away and allow me to look at thin people. Ah yes, the typical reversal of age which happens when TTC, that old chestnut- fools! Hopefully this will be our year!

I came off the pill and my cycle has been getting longer ever since ( last one 42 days) I never get positive ovulation tests and am worried it's not going to happen. I am sorry that you have had negative experiences with doctors and thank you for sharing x

Try not to worry kunichi. I keep hearing it can take a year for hormones to get back to normal after the pill so fingers crossed it's just that.
