Hey ladies

Just found this quote whilst browsing the net and wondered if it was true for anyone? :D

If you are in true labor, contractions will begin somewhere between the 38th -42nd week of pregnancy, but usually somewhere around the 40th. A good way to tell if you will deliver around the 40th week is to study your past menstrual cycles. If you had longer cycles, you may deliver a week or two after your due date (or the 40th week). If you had shorter cycles, you may deliver earlier than your due date (or the 40th week).

Not sure

I've always been little miss regular, 28 days on the dot. Stanley was shoehorned (not literally) out after induction at 40+4 but he was so far from ready it could have been a couple of weeks.

It'll be interesting to see what others think.

I am another who pre birth had regular 28 day cycles, Charlie was 4 days late.

before i had any children my cycles were every 32-36 days and my first baby was 9 days late, after having her my cycles went to every 26-28 days and my other daughter was 2 weeks early, before i fell with my 3rd baby my cycles were every 28-30 days and he was 9 days early, before i fell this time my cycles were every 30-32 days
(i only know this as i keep all my old diarys, sad i know)

I asked my Midwife about this as i read it somewhere when i was pregnant & because i was regular & came on, on the same day each month meant i had a longer cycle so was more likely to go overdue & i did, was induced on 10th day

I've always had irregular cycles anywhere between 32 and 40 days. My waters broke at 35+6 and I started to get mild contractions at 36 weeks. I was induced as the labour wasn't advancing quick enough and they were worried about infection.

Me neither. I was always every 28 days spot on and Aimee was induced at 40+11 days.

Glad you asked this - I was thinking of it. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day whose periods were always early and her two babies were born early. My cycle was about 42 days, so I was starting to think baby would never come out on it's own lol. Interesting to see you girls don't agree - can I have some labour dust please

my cycles are 35-40 days and i was 8 days over due

my cycle is 33 days and kaiden was 8 days early xkelx

my periods before bethany were every 28days on the dot, she was born at 41wks exactly

my periods with josh were exactly the same but i was induced for medical reasons

this time round ill let you know once ive delivered :rotfl:

******** baby dust to gingerpig as requested! ***********
My cycle has always been erratic but extremely long. My first was born exactly on his due date although should really have been the day before but I had a prolonged second stage which pushed it over into the next day.
So I'm afraid the theory did not work for me first time around, we'll see with no.2!!

ive alwasy thought that and its true for me . my cycle is longer and all my babaies were 8 - 11 days late.

I was getting worried at the beginning of this as my cycles were always more like 33-25ish days than 28, but having read the bottom ones, am more relaxed.
