Hey so thought it was time to join the long termers !

Hello I am Alexis and we have been trying for our 1st baby for 20 months this cycle. We have had all our tests down and hubby has 'excellent SA and my hormones levels are all normal, hsg test normal and my ultra sound normal. We are on the IVF waiting list and are due to start 1st cycle around December. We are allowed 3 cycles on nhs

Feeling low but accepted our situarion now after months of tears and heart break. I know the hardest part has still to come. So now I start my journey to prep my body for the best chance.

We are still ttc but no Charting anymore as its just all too much now. Hopefully I can get to know some more ppl on here and any advice is welcome.
A x x

Hi Alexis

Sorry that you have to join us here in LTTTC but welcome nonetheless!

A quick thing on the NHS cycles - do you get potentially 3 fresh cycles? I was entitled to one fresh and 2 frozen cycles on the NHS but because we didn't get anything frozen embryos from the first round, it stopped after 1.

But I hope you get your bfp before then. Xx

Hi Alexis and welcome to the LTTTC gang.

you're lucky where ever you are in the country, here in the west midlands, we only get one go on the NHS before we have to pay privately. and that's only 1 fresh cycle. if we do manage to get anything frozen, we have to pay for it.

were hoping our first session starts in august (have to ring on the first day of the witch to see if they can fit us in for the op or not) we don't temp, chart, ovulation kits or anything. we just relax and go with how we feel at the moment.

before you start I'd recommend a great booked by dr zita west, its called the ivf diet. full of useful info for both you and hubby about what it is you're about to go through, the best food to eat, vitamins and minerals to take etc well worth a read.

and on that note, If you plan on changing your diet, taking vitamins etc start it as soon as possible. this way it gives your body time to take in all the goodness and get used to the foods etc. ive found it quite hard to make some changes but the longer ive done it, the easier its becoming.

look forward to getting to know you :)

note just saw you're in Scotland so ignore my previous comment :)

Hi I have coeliac disease so I am already on a strict diet. I cook all my food from scratch and only eat seafood and veg and rice. Now and again I have gluten free past. I already take supplements due to my coeliac disease like zinc, vit B C & D. I take folic acid for past 2 years as well.

Yeah In Scotland you get 3 cycles on nhs plus the frozen transfers from each cycle so we will see. I've got about another 4 months to wait so not giving up hope on a natural pregnancy but also accept its very unlikely

Thank You for your advice I will check out the ivf diet!

I'm glad you've managed to move into this section now Alexis - you'll find you 'fit in' (if that's the right way to put it) in this section much more than other parts of the forum. I found it incredibly difficult to go in and out other sections as time went on!

I have everything crossed you get a lovely surprise BFP before needing IVF, but if you don't, the girls in here are great and so knowledgeable. They really got me through the whole process!

If you're on facebook too there's a group for people going through IVF at GRI. It might be really helpful for you as the time approaches to starting treatment! xx

Thanks for your reply hunni. I went on that GRI FB page and saw that the treatment doesn't start for another 3 months after your at the top of the list being called up which has really disappointed me. I take it thats true? That means it will have been almost 2 years since my 1st appt at the clinic when it all started. I just wish I had good news with something. I will be 6 months waiting come December so that means I am looking at March 2019 ... I think today is going to be. bad day as I feel like crying already and its 6.20am

I think I seen your post on the group lovely. It is increasingly frustrating as you hope to just get started that instant, but there is lots of form signing, discussions, bloods and tests that need done before you officially go ahead. I had my first appointment in December where I got my blood test to check my AMH. The hospital don’t do anything until they do your AMH and get the results. Xmas did delay things slightly so we went back to see the nurse consultant in January and she discussed ivf with us (we thought we would try iui first but she said it was pointless and ivf was our best option). Following that this was my timeline...

January 25th - had nurse consultant appointment to discuss ivf further and treatment plan. Got given consent forms (hundreds of them) to take home and also had bloods and swabs taken. To contact them on first day of next period.

February 15th - first day of period. Phoned clinic to let them know. To go in on CD21

March 7th - went to clinic and got prostap injection on cd21 to induce a bleed (this is the one that shuts your system down so you don't ovulate on your own).

March 14th - had a bleed, on cd29 it was so near to my normal cycle

March 22nd - back to the clinic to have a scan and check womb lining. All good so got given injections to take home.

March 23rd - started injections. twice a day initially then once in the mornings

March 31st - day 9 of injections. back to the clinic for bloods and a scan.

April 1st - start nasal spray 4 times a day

April 3rd - day 12 of injections. Back to the clinic for another scan.

April 4th - last injection given in the morning and last nasal spray at 6pm. Then gave myself the trigger shot to release the eggs at 10pm.

April 6th - egg collection day

April 11th - egg transfer day

Official testing date the 21st of April!

Because we didn’t know we needed ivf it delayed things a bit longer for us. As you know you need it I think it’ll make your timeline a month quicker than mine. Does that make sense and/or help?! Xx

Thank you hunni. I've had a bit of a downer since I've realised how much longer it will be ...also AF is due in 2 days or so so it's just hormonal downer adding to the mix. Trying to just swim through the rocky waves and get to the shore so to speak. I am just so so worried IVF doesn't work for us thrn we will both just be so devastated. I am scared as this is our only chance...
