Morning!
Jess is 18 months old now and she feeds herself but mostly with fingers. She eats her cereal with fingers, pasta, beans etc. She does use a spoon successfully for yoghurt, custard, puddings and soup etc but I'm wondering when she should start on a spoon for breakfast? I think if I give her one now she'll just put it to one side and crack on with her fingers anyhow!
I have introduced a fork for lunch/dinner and she has been spearing things but not actually raised to mouth yet.

We've been offering spoons and forks for a few months now (from 13 months and he's now 16 months) but he's only just starting to be able to do it himself, previously he was just going in with fingers. I think it's worth trying it now, she might still eat with her fingers but she'll opt for the spoon eventually and will still probably use both for a while anyhow!

My little boy is 2.5..
He will use a spoon for cereal, yogs, soups and shep pies etc. But if comes to finger type food, fish fingers etc he wont use his fork! Just fingers still.
Sometimes hell poke the food with fork but then pick it off with his fingers to eat it lol!!

They do get the hand of it eventually x

Hahaha! My eldest is the same and he's two and a half. He starts off with the cutlery, but then gradually just uses his fingers. Part of me wishes he wasn't so mucky and would use it through the whole meal, but I'm also glad he feeds himself and eats every thing I give him.
