For some reason DH and I are both drawn to names beginning with the letter 'B'. The problem is, our surname begins with 'J'.

So the child's initials would be 'BJ'...is this just too cruel?? :rotfl:

Sally - I am Bethan Jones... and yes, its a bit cruel... but ive always been ok..... it got a bit worse towards like age 14, but i just laughed it off.. most people call me BJ though! like all my friends etc either call me BJ or Beej... soooo take that how you will hehe

My brothers ben jones, always been a bj, but hardly ever notices lol Not too cruel, maybe theyll always put in the middle name initial aswell if they have to do initials on anything though !!

my middle name is Jayne :D so it was still BJ hahaha BJJ..

Beth, I was thinking of you when I wrote the post because I know your surname is Jones!

Im still not convinced either way, I hope a few more people will reply!

I think it is fine. My OH's surname begins with B so our LO is B_____ Junior or BJ for short  I wouldn't shy away from those initials if you really like the name :D

:) I think its fine. I would never of picked up on it with anyone at school.

i think once it got to senior school it would be teased for it and kids are worse now than ever so i must admit i wouldnt want it for my child now a days.

LOL.. I didnt even think of that. My OH's surname is Jordan so will be staying well away from names begining with B.

Claire x

I'm sure I knew lots of people with those initials and never even thought that their initials were BJ! If you like the name then go for it hun :D

sorry... i couldn't do that to my baby :shakehead: OH and i really liked the name 'william' but our surname rhymes with 'willy' so we just couldn't do it.

i always feel really sorry for that welsh rugby player, jonathan thomas - i mean, what were his parents thinking?! :?

there was a girl at my highschool who's first name was literally BJ.
she was a bit rough around the edges. lol

My OH surname is Mann so we also had to be careful about names..! I personally wouldn't pick a B name with a J surname, but only because there are many other names with different letters that are also nice, so I personally wouldn't. For the sake of secondary school really rather than the near future. And especially if a girl..

Benjamin's middle name is James - so he's a BJ :)

Me neither
It stumped me totally

I have a brother who is 10 and a teen sister, and know how cruel young people are these days. I think we should steer clear of anything that could get them laughed at.

If it occurs to us oldies, it would occur to young, dirty minded kids!
