So we have the Mothercare swinging crib for LO, now looking at getting the mattress for it(need a square it says) but upon looking they're all different sizes etc. There is 2 on Mothercare itself one is a bit naff and thin the other looks great but I didn't know if there were others elsewhere to compare to, on other sites etc? Or is it best to get the mattress from the same place as crib?

This is the crib and mattress from Mothercare,

TIA xx

I've always got mattresses from Mothercare, even though we got cribs/cots etc. from elsewhere. They're very good mattresses. Our cot bed mattress from there is still being used by our 3 year old daughter, so they last really well.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, just didn't know if I was missing out on other better or just as good mattresses out there lol.

I think that's the mattress we've got, button. Our crib is from JL, but is basically the same as the one in the link you've posted.

Is it nice as I haven't felt it or seen it in person only online? Think I will just go for this one, save the hassle really

I saw both at the expectant parent evening. I ahve ended up going for the cheaper thinner one as it has a waterproof cover and actual on buying it is actually quite good quality for what you need for a crib mattress. If I find it too thin once baby is here i will just buy a second one to put on top to make it a bit thicker.

The other one is better quality and a little ticker, has the breathable holes in it too for safety if baby decides to sleep on their front ot learn to roll while still in the crib but I would advise buying a waterproof sheet as there isn't one on there already.

I would recommend the mothercare crib sheets too as they are a really good fit and don;t think they will come off with a baby wriggling around on them.

Yes, it's the breathable one we have. I think it's fine. Feels good; quite thick. To be honest, we didn't do as much research on the crib mattress as we did on the cot one, but this one seemed like a good buy.

I got the more expensive mothercare coolmax one for my gliding crib, crib mattresses are thin but baby doesn't need that much padding to begin with - I think they are all quite similar but preferred to have something waterproof x

I've got a John Lewis swinging crib and bought the Mothercare mattress as the dimensions were the same, but when I put the mattress in the crib there was a huge gap all the way round the edge of it. I didn't like it, so returned it and ordered the John Lewis one instead.

Mayflower, are JL mattresses different dimensions? I thought they were all standard....

They were the same dimensions, but when I tried the Mothercare crib mattress in my crib there was a huge gap all the way round. The JL mattress was a much better fit. Maybe I just got a dodgy one.

Oh it says it comes with a waterproof layer and a washable layer?!

We have gone for the more expensive one :)

He one in the link you posted? The £35 one?

Maybe I was wrong then. Might not have been the one they showed at the event. Didnt look like it had a waterproof cover. X

The Mothercare ones have a zipped layer at the top that you can whip off if it gets something on it and the baby is fine to sleep on the mattress without it while it's washed.
