Morning
I am 4 and a half weeks pregnant.
For a week now I have been getting what feels like period pain on and off all day. Sometimes it can be quite painful.
I have no bleeding (touch wood) yet also am having hot flushes, mild nausea and diarrhoea.
I’ve called the doctor but she says there is nothing they can do at this stage and just to ride it out.
I’m very nervous. This is my third baby and I don’t remember these symptoms last time!
Oh the worry

If the doctor says ride it out... That is your best suggestion. I've read that you can get cramping like sensations as your uterus stretches, but I've never been pregnant before so couldn't tell you if this is the case.

I just want to say I had awful period type cramps at the start. My first pregnancy ended at 6 weeks after awful cramping so when I fell pregnant again, naturally I was extremely concerned when I started to get them again. They actually lasted till about the 12 week scan but were a lot less by that point. It's quite normal to get them. I realise now that the cramps weren't a bad thing but a sign things were stretching to accommodate my baby.

Try not to worry, easier said than done I know. All I can say is keep drinking plenty of water and rest as much as possible. you can use a hot water bottle but I would recommend not quite letting the water boil and wrap the bottle in a blanket so it's not too hot. I had to use one on my back. By 8 weeks, my back went mainly on the right hand side. Ensure your chair is comfy at work etc and take things slowly.

I'm currently 22+5 and get all sorts of twinges, aches and pains as things are growing. Also by week 8 I had really itchy skin round my belly. Keep some moisturiser handy!

I just couldn't read your post and not say anything as I was a complete wreck thru most of my first trimester. Constantly worrying about symptoms coming and going etc and then I finally realised everyone has different pregnancies and you just have to go with it

I had the worst cramps of my life from 5dpo until I was 9 weeks pregnant. They backed off then but never fully went away. I had a healthy baby so cramps can be totally normal. x
