i just have a few questions.... id always thought that as soon as Lo turns 11month, 1 year old id put him onto cows milk. i was chatting to my mum lastnight and she said she thinks the growingup milk would be better as it contains more iron etc. she works in a pharmacy and she said they sell loads of the stuff.

id never even thought about this before, but now its got me thinking.....???

i (apparently) was never a big milk drinker and even today i dont touch the stuff!!! my mum said that id she'd have had the option when i was younger she'd have given me the growing up milk for 6months or so and then cows milk.....does growing up milk have as much calcium as cows milk?? i always thought it was more or a publicity marketing thing tbh....

what did you ladies do or what are you planning to do when your Lo's turn 1??? could i do both?? im a bit confused now!!! (for a change! lol)

I'm not sure what the difference in the 2 are but I put Odhrán onto cows milk when he turned one, he only has a bottle in the morning and at bedtime now though. I gave him a few cartons of the follow on milk but he wouldn't lip it once he had tasted the cows milk x

L's been on cows milk for 2 months or so now I don't see the point in follow on milk to be honest x

thanks ladies, yeah thats what i was thinking anyway. i had no intention of using it until my mum put the idea in my head!!!

When I had my wee girl the health visitor advised us to move onto cows milk at around 10/11 months, full fat cows milk. She said that was best for baby as it is full of nutrients anyway. I never bought any of the growing up, powdered stuff, i always thought it was a way for them to get money out of us when normal milk is just as good. Also - you can get vitamins from Boots that are for babies in a liquid format, which contains all the vitamins they need, it only costs a £1 or £2 and lasts for weeks.

:)

When zac saw a dietician she said it's a con and cows milk is fine as they get iron from food if they have a good diet. X
