Im just after some advise about early weaning (would be just on baby rice for a good couple of weeks as lucy is only 16 weeks tommorow although was 15 days late not sure if that counts!!). just wondered if anyones little ones who have cowsmilk protein intolerance have any experiance with trying early or should i just keep increasing her milk feeds. would rather wait if it may cause her problems but i also want her to be happy and full!! hope that makes sense. thank you in advance xxx:):)

Hay my lil man is the same!!! He has cm intolreance and we started weaning 4 months ago now!! We started with baby rice a couple of times a day just teeny tiny amounts to get him used to it and then until he was 6 months he just had veg purees. But that was anything, tomatoes, carrots, peas everything and anything. At 6 nmonths was where it gets difficult because thye can pretty much eat anything but you start to realise just how much food cm is in and what of our food its in. Lasagne (the sauce) mash in shepherds pies.....its just everywhere. However by that point we bought milk free cheese and milk free marge (vitalite) and we all use it now!! We are seeing a dietician next week or the week after about how to supplement the lack of cm in his diet with other foods!! If you're cooking ur own food just remember to think about it lol!! Cows milk is in a lot of food!!! If your doing jars then check the labels religously.....we do give jars sometimes and my word you just have to keep checking!! Oh and for mash and baby rices and cereals just use there own milk!!!!!!

/ood luck!!! N if you need anything pm me I might be able to help (might not lol) x

thanks very much for your reply hun. how old was your little one? when you started him on the rice. also are u meant to steralise the bowls etc that you make the rice in? thanks again xxx

J wa 16 weeks and a bit!! We started really slowly just a couple of mouthfuls twice a day and we sterilised everything until about 7 months then slowly stopped x

I've just read this and want to say thanks as this has helped me loads! My boy got diagnosed with CMA yesterday after me seeing 5 different doctors and 3 trips to the hospital about him screaming in pain!! He's nearly 4 months and has severe reflux too do weaning will help and we didn't want to completely wait for the dietician!! Thank you xxx

just make sure that you check every single label thoroughy. i also have a list somewhere (might have posted it on another thread) of products they shouldnt have. Also dont think that one thing ie red sauce has no milk in therefore they all dont! we bough heinz ketchup ages ago without milk in and bought another one started using it turns out it actually does have milk in (fortunately it appears my little man has grown out of it...) ill try and find the list.... heres a link to a really useful page of stuff to avoid and a really interesting page regarding intoerance!!

yeah but it does get easy lol! also when you get in the flow of it you have to make sure that you get loads of extra calcium in. ie make sauces wuth his/her milk, use tinned fish (excluding tuna) lots of dried fruit xxx
