I've noticed whilst reading the baby food jar ingrediants at the supermarket, like you do, that some are for LO's from 4 motnhs, but they say 'contains cows milk', now I'm right in thinking LO's shouldn't have cows milk until 12months?? So why is it in food for 4month olds, or will the amount be so tiny its insignificant? Just thought I'd ask :D

Cows milk is fine to be used in their food from weaning (preferably 6mths tho) but for drinking it is 12mths

Yes thats correct, cows milk is fine in food, just not as a main drink because it doesn't have the same nutrients as breast/formula. :D

Remember formula is made from cows milk, it's just treated in a different way :)

You'd be surprised.. cows milk is present in almost all weaning baby foods... When Tia was sick and became intolerant to cows milk after, I had to read the labels of EVERYTHING, Even Heinz Baked Beans and Bacon food had milk in it.. :wall: ... it was quite hard because sometimes its not "cows milk" but a by product of it which she would also react too.

I couldn't have milk based products because she'd react to that in my breast milk (one of the reasons I stopped breast feeding and moved her on to SMA LF... )

I think if it were really "dangerous" it wouldn't be in any baby products.. but as Urchin said even formula milk is cows milk.

I don't actually know when you can give actual cows milk to a child, Tia was nearly 5 before she grew out of her intolerance so no cows milk for her.
