Could someone please invent a home scan?

How hard could it be? Something the size of a first aid box that you open, with screen on one side and a pull out scanner on the other, complete with tube of jelly of course (extra jelly tubes should be available in Boots though).

That way when ever we get scared we could whip it out and just check whether we can see heart beat etc.

I suggest someone design it and take to Dragons Den? RRP of about £100? I think about 90% of pregnant women would buy one. Or borrow from a friend.

Anyone got a clue how to go about inventing it?

This has been invented I think by GE Healthcare something called Vscan but it's only available for physicians. The technology is so expensive I think I read that a full size machine like this costs like £250,000 (possibly $ actually can't remember where I read it!)

Would be wonderful but I suppose you would need to be qualified to know exactly what you are seeing really. Would be so good to see little one whenever you want though!

you can get a thing in Tescos, where you strap it to your tummy and you can hear the babys heartbeat....

was looking at it in the catalogue today and am thinking of buying one...only trouble is it says effective from 21 weeks

U'd make a fortune if you could make it cheaply enough!
We have a portable ultrasound in our department to check bladder status, I know I'll be tempted but gonna leave it to the sonographers, they know what to look for
