Hi

Does anyone know if you are entitled to assistance when you have a mortgage and don't rent somewhere?

I'm thinking about either taking voluntary redundancy, or reduced hours and am wondering if I am entitled to any assistance with my mortgage payments. I don't have the right kind of insurance on my mortgage to get assistance with my provider, I only have life insurance on it. Never actually thought I would end up being a mummy lol

I don't think you do... Housing benefit is for rented properties only as far as I know... Might be worth popping down to your local council offices to find out though? As for council tax benefit... I really don't have a clue... Hope you get something sorted xx

I think u can with council tax and a form or housing benefit for owned properties.if u go to directgov.co.UK and switch to your area you can search for relavent benefits also something called a benefit calculator on the same site will tell u if u get other benefits too x

I think u can get help with council tax and the 'interest' part of ur mortgage-not quite sure how mortgages work so can't help much more x

you can get help with council tax and the interest only that is secured on your property but this is tracked at the bank of englands rate so if you have a fixed rate mortgage then you could end up also having to pay some towards the interest but if you have a tracker mortgage you will be ok, you will still have to pay any capital on your property unless you can change it to interest only
for a year till you are back on your feet ect
