Hi everyone.

I was just wondering what people experiences were with the two.

I currently have the copper coil but also suffer from dysmenorrhoea. I always have to take prescription pain killers but they make me very drowsy. Looking after a 6 month old all day on my own means I have to wait to take anything that takes the edge off. If I don't take anything I am normally a mess in absolute agony which means my son doesnt get the attention I should be giving him. The week of af is always the worst week. I now dread it and have started to get quite upset by it all.

The copper seemed the best option as the pill and implant just didn't agree and did have an effect on my fertility.

I just wondered if anyone has had success with the merina in helping control the pain. How bad the side effects were and if fertility returned to normal. Sadly I have to use a birth control method as even without the coil I'm in agony on my af. It was eaiser when it was just me as I could take really strong painkillers and ride it out but now thats not an option. I have no close family and all my friends work so getting someone to babysit for an hour or two to give me a break isn't an option either.

Your experiences would be really appreciated.

Xx

Hi. From what I've heard the mirena is very good for heavy and painful periods. It doesn't work straight away but after a month or two lots of women seem to see a change. That is what I was told by the doc anyway. Copper is notorious for giving heavy, painful periods :(
Sure you'll get more answers too.
