is it worth me going bcak to work, id be earning 20 quid less than i do now on mat pay if ive worked it out right. the tax credit ppl are not helpful at all and so i dont think id get more from them if i went back part time and as far as i can figure out id get 545 pay, 120 tc and 80 cb. my oh only works 20 hrs a week too and if its not monetarily worth it i dont want to go back really, i hate the company i work for and almost got signed off with stress and anxiety before i got preg, an i just know it will happen again an if im not gonna be better off id rather just concentrate on college and my baby iykwim? if i didnt go back i could sell my car and save myself the insurance money etc and surely id be entitled to more help with council tax and housing etc.
i was wondering if anyone has a clue about all this stuff cos it just boggles my mind

I don't know I'm afraid but our local children's centre has someone from the job centre in every other week so you can ask these kinds of questions, it might be worth looking to see if yours does the same? Good luck with whatever you decide! :)

ah i did mention to my hv and she was really vague about it and didnt really say anything. im really worried as if i do go back to work and end up worse off i will have to quit and they dont let u sign on for 6 weeks if u quit your job so ideally id rather know before hand

yeah, slate is looking like id be a lil better off going back to work, its just the lack of available info about income support etc that throws it all out of whack, id not have to pay rent or council tax but wouldnt get working tax creds but if i knew what id get income support wise it would be easier to decide. it does look like im better off working. good job im planning on getting preg again soon lol

Think about child care, and the price of that.

I think you sound like you will be really unhappy going back to work. You do what's right for you.

I have to go back as we won't have enough money to live. Rental prices and food are just so high.

Maybe the job centre can help with that side of it, that's what I heard the HV say in my local one.

i wont have to pay child care, my mum will happily watch her as much as needed. i only plan on going back for 16 hrs a week and it is looking like i will have to as theres nowhere that will give you figures on income support. i had thought about consolidating my debts into one with a personal loan since id be going abck to work but ive been refused one and im too scared to apply for any others as each refusal dents the creit rating! which is totally unfair really. i own 3k on cc and 1.5k overdraft plus 750 to the gas company. would be so much easier if i didnt have to pay out 140 a month to those 3 things and just paid a bit less to a loan but hey ho they wont give me one so never mind looks like i'll have to struggle on and go back to work and do college and try to make us a better future.
