Hi everyone! I'm new here, never really been on a forum before do please excuse me if I'm acting daft 😆 My husband and I recently got married and have been trying to conceive ever since. I am a week late for my period, and I am never late at all however, when I have done a pregnancy test it stated negative? It was a clear blue early detection, yesterday. So I don't have a clue what to do now. Should I just wait and do another test tomorrow? Thank you in advance :)

Maybe wait a day or two and if your period still hasn't arrived then do another test. I think pregnancy hormone doubles every 3 days at this stage so hopefully will be positive very soon! Also a gp can send you for a blood test which is much more accurate and picks up early pregnancy. Are you getting any symptoms? All the best! X

Thank you, I did read that somewhere as well so thought I would wait. Like I said my longest cycle is 33days and that's because I took meds to prevent my period. I'm now on day 38? So fingers crossed I am pregnant just don't want to give myself any false hope it's still very very early even if I am. Thank you for your advice it's nice to have some other people to turn too instead of family and friends that just constantly ask me if I'm pregnant! Xx I wouldn't say so really I have felt nauseous the last two mornings but I do get like that from time to time so don't want to presume xx

Try a different brand test. If it's still negative and you still haven't gotten your period go to the Dr's for a blood test. :)

I don't really trust clear blue tests (unless it's the digi ones and they take longer to show) is always go for a first response early detection test or Superdrug early test x

I did another one this morning and it came up negative, I have first response ones on order so we shall see. My mind is just utterly baffled as I am like clockwork normally. Thank you for your advice xx

Update! I am now 10 ish days late for my period, I haven't done another test since because I just don't see the point at the moment. Going to wait a little longer. I have experienced very mild stomach cramps but very low in my abdomen, above the pubic bone. Also like a muscle tightening sensation but it doesn't hurt it's just there like a dull ache, my stomach is hard to touch in this area too. Does this mean anything to anyone please? Going to the doctors in Wednesday but they're not very helpful so we shall have to see thank you girls xxx

This happened to me, I ended up ovulating 2 weeks later than I normally do (I am ALWAYS on time) which meant for 2 weeks after testing it was still negative and no period.

This may be what has happened to you! Fingers crossed.

Isn't that strange. Did you get the same symptoms? Thank you by the way :) xxx

False alarm. Absolutely broke my heart! Silly I know but why would she let me go 10 days believing and then hit me with it! Anyway I'll pop over onto the other TTC. All the best girls. Thank you for all your help xx

Hey Basketcase,

Sorry to hear it wasn't the answer you wanted this time - I got a negative pregnancy test a few months ago and I was seriously convinced, convinced! I was pregnant. I was heartbroken.

But honestly, don't fret and just enjoy trying. After a couple of months of a negative one I got a positive test so it will work out!

Thank you Dolores. It really helps to know other women have been there done that. I know they obviously have but for one to say it to me makes it that little bit easier. I'm trying not to think about it as much and let nature take its course. So convinced like you say, crazy lady bodies drive me insane haha xxx

Hey Hunny!

Honestly I know exactly where you're coming from. I was SO paranoid about "I think I am definitely pregnant but don't know yet" that I hardly drank any alcohol through the entire time I was trying through fear I was already pregnant. The amount of rubbish excuses I have given to explain away why I'm not drinking, and all for nothing, but then you will have a real reason soon!

Just a few tips (I tried these for a month and then conceived that very month, but that may very well just be a coincidence), but these things can help along conception:

- Take folic acid and a multi vitamin when you're trying to conceived
- Cut out caffeine or really reduce it (apparently it can slightly hinder conception, or so I heard)
- If you don't do exercise or eat healthy try and do a bit of this as not only will it boost your energy and make you feel great, it gets a fab environment going ready for a babushka!
- Don't use lube - most lubes kill/hinder sperm motor function
- Lie down straight in bed for 20 - 30 minutes after sex. Don't wash straight away and try not to stand up straight away either
- Get plenty of sleep and drink water

Lastly, just try and enjoy the process with your partner and not mention the baby all the time before or after sex. Just know it will happen and you've had some lovely romantic moments with your other half and wow, look whats come of it! ;)

You will get there - I honestly was Googling adoption and stuff like that and we'd been trying for 5 months. My husband said I was being ridiculous. Why are men always way more relaxed about these things?!

You are welcome to PM me if you have any questions at all or just want to rant! Always an ear here.

D x

By the way, do you mind me asking how long you have been trying to conceive?

Thank you so much this really helped!! Well still helps actually! I've read it over and over again. Still no luck for me we have been trying since our wedding in March Monthly has come again and I really thought we had a good chance. AnywY maybe next time. I have quit smoking in these last few months but do need to try and eat healthy more, long shift etc make it hard but I need to make our chances stronger somehow. I've heard morning fun is best apparently he's more awake then I'll keep in touch this is a great site...can't wait for the day when we are !! Exciting times lie ahead for us all xxxx
