Confused big time with bbt chart

Right, i always thought that when your bbt dropped sharply then rose again sharply then you ovd on the day of the drop.
got rather excited as i thought i was 1dpo today

Thanks hun, i will ask her. the temps i added were what my temp rose to last time after ov'ing, hence why i decided to put them in to make sure 100% of my ov date...
it just confused me more lol x x

Ok, firstly best to ignore last month’s temps as your cover line and average temperatures will change month on month. I’ve got all mine recorded and the cover lines vary from 36.2 to 36.36 – quite a range.

Right, next to the ovulation dip. I wouldn’t rely too much on this as random dips and peaks are common throughout your cycle. It’s a good one to look back on, but I’ve confused myself so much thinking I’ve seen one then my temps rise then they fall again then they go round in a big circle (ok not that, I’m getting carried away) so many times I tend to think they’re not really worth much. Plus some people will never see it, some will see it every month and others will see it intermittently. However, it’s a good thing to spot in retrospect.

The big, annoying rule to follow is not to believe anything you see on a BBT chart until you’ve got a three-day long trend. It’s so hard to do as three days takes so long to happen, and there’s so many patterns you can see in the days between (trust me, I’ve seen them all). I’ve analysed and analysed day after day and when the cycle’s over and I can see the whole chart it’s just so clear what was going on as the other temps are there to compare with.

Looking at your chart, I’d say that probably is an ovulation dip. Your temperature rises 12-36 hours after ovulation so IF you see an even higher temperature tomorrow you’re probably showing a really classic pattern. Ovulation is defined as three temperatures at least 0.2 degree higher than the previous 5 temperatures. This is what fertility friend will pick up. Fertility friend will also define ovulation as the temperature before you pass your coverline (the horizontal line it draws on the chart). This is because it’s a computer and not a human. As mentioned, you could have ovulated 12-36 hours previously so it could have been two calendar days before.

So yes, if you see the continued increase in temperatures I think you’ve got an ovulation dip and a nice clear rise and ovulation was probably the day of the dip. If it doesn’t follow that pattern, don’t worry and keep watching it until it does. And remember that fertility friend is working on a set of rules, operated by a computer. You know your body and your brain is way cleverer than any computer programme so sometimes you need to manually adjust what you see as you can cope with more variables than the computer can.

Wow hun thanks. its alot more complicated than i orig thought.
the weird thing is, yest my cervix was quite low and firm, also hardly any ewcm, esp compared to the day before. today its higher and softer?
iv also run out of opks and im going to get more today just incase x x

Don't know anything about cervix but when I'm about to ov I get hardly any cm at all. I think it all goes inside for a day or so...

I had run out of them so bought more today. just done one and its alot darker than previous ones i have put up but not positive. i can put a pic of that one up compared to the last one i did if you wish x x
