confused about dates??

Ok so im 27 weeks on wednesday so i should have worked out how they work by now lol but i dont understand how i still have over 3 months until my due date on May 25th but im over 6 and a half months pregnant?

Maybe im being dumb but is it actually longer than 40 weeks? x

It's calculated from the first day of your last period, I think? And 40 weeks is more like 10 months than 9 months because this confuses me too! My last period was the 6th of august and I'm due 13th of may.

I do that all the time to lol sit and work out dates and weeks and months left n never makes sense- They say 40 weeks dont they so i go by that so when ppl say what a long 9 months this will be i think what a long ten months hahah xx

i think whoever calculated that its a 9 month pregnancy just thought right its 40 weeks your pregnant for so that 12 weeks left off the whole year 4 weeks in a month so that 3 months so take 3 months off 1 year and thats 9 months bet it was a man that came up with it pmsl

I always tell people how many weeks I am because it's easier but each 17th of the month I count as a month closer to him being due (he's due 17.6.11) which means i'm just over 5 months pregnant. I think they calculate it from the 1st day of your last period to compensate us being able to go 2 weeks over our due date. x

It's 40 weeks from your last period, which is just over 9 months (roughly 9 months from conception). Most months are longer than 4 weeks, so 40 weeks isn't 10 months x

To save confusion I always counted by the date in the month-I was due on the 28th jan so I classed myself as 8 months on 28/12,7 months on 28/11 etc etc

Yeah 40 weeks divided by 9 months is 4.4 weeks per month....like Emma I always just click over to a new month on the date I am due which is 24th of each month. I do tend to tell people in weeks too but it's amazing how many people don't know how many weeks a pregnancy is! xx
