Conception 2 days before expected period?

Ok, so here are the facts: I am on cycle day 40, 8 days late for my period. In the last 6 months, my cycles have ranged from 28-32 days, with 32 being the average. I have never skipped a period and have never taken birth control (except for the morning after pill, which I’ve taken 2/3 times in the past 9 years when condoms have failed). My boyfriend and I have been using the pull out method for the last couple years, but on cycle day 30, he came inside of me. I’ve never tracked my ovulation, since I’m not trying to conceive, but have been tracking my cycles on an app that also estimates ovulation. This cycle, it predicted that I’d ovulated on cycle day 21, so I thought it’d be very unlikely to conceive on day 30. BUT I’m now 8 days late AND have only gotten negative results on home pregnancy tests everyday since day 33. I’ve had cramping for the past week, like light period cramps.

What’s the likelihood that I: a) got pregnant earlier in the month with the pull out method and am just slow at building up hcg or b) ovulated super late and got pregnant 2 days before my period was due, making it too early to test? Or am I paranoid and delaying my period because of it? I also threw out my back on cycle day 33 (a severe strain that left me incapacitated for a few days) so I wonder if that could have delayed my period? I haven’t been under any stress, haven’t gained or lost weight recently, or anything else that could cause a late period.

It would be very unlikely to ovulate 2 days before your period is due.
You may be having an unovulatory cycle (everyone has one) and the mixture of stress is prolonging it. I would just try and not stress and your period will eventually come. X

I agree it’s likely a blip in your cycle. You could continue to test for your peace of mind

It’s possible. This happened to my best friend. She used the pull out method as her form of concreception for years - never failed her, until 6 months ago. Going by EDD she was told she must have been badly caught out this time as it looked like she ovulated just days before her period was due. Mines far from average too. I ovulate straight after I’ve finished my period so not everyone is “textbook”

From what I have seen in my family history and also people my friends have known....absolutely anything is possible. I hope you are pregnant if you hope to be! Also some women don't get positives until they are months pregnant. I am not saying it is common but it has happened.
