Conceiving after mc

As some of you know I got a BFP on the 9th March. The pregnancy itself was a surprise as I was on the pill however hubby and I were delighted. Unfortunately I went on to have an emc.

Gutted was an understatement but we were fairly philosophical about it all accepting we couldn’t have done anything about it and rather it happened early on. I had also been quite unwell at the time I fell pregnant with a 3 week migraine and had been taking numerous different medications. So all in all not the best start.

But the whole experience made us realise that we want to start a family. I was told by the EPU that I could start trying straight away once I got my period. This has happened fairly quickly and I’m due to ovulate in the next few days. I’m not expecting to get pregnant straight away, doesn’t matter if we don’t as I’m having great fun trying J . But I’m just wondering if any of you got pregnant straight after a mc and if everything was ok?

Hi hun,

Some women do conceive straight after a miscarriage and go on to have a healthy pregnancy.

My experience is slightly different though.

After my first loss in May 2011, I got my 2nd BFP on 19th September. I miscarried at 5 weeks on 25th September and on 25th October I got my 3rd BFP. I miscarried this time at 6 weeks.

For me personally I wish I had waited a cycle between the 2nd and 3rd, there is no evidence to support that waiting would have made any difference BUT my gut instinct is I hadn't let my body have enough time to recover.

Whatever you decide I hope you get your sticky bean soon hun

Thanks hun I'm in mixed minds about it all to be honest. I really want to start a family but there is always that niggle in the back of my mind, what if it happens again. But i guess I can't live worrying what might happen or else nothing will.... xxxxx

Hey hun.

Im like carnat..... (apart frm my last MC) i have always been able to fall preg again pretty quickly. As in prob the month after! These other pregnancies did also end early but i dont think it has anything to do with how soon after the mc they were.

For last 10mnths i havent been able to fall preg at all so no idea wat the HELL is going on.
But my docs each time after a mc have sed its healthy to maybe wait a cycle then try again. Just to make sure everything has 'reset'.
But tbh i too, know girls who have fallen preg str8 away after MC n now have healthy babbas bouncing around.

Sorry for ur loss hun. Its always upsetting whether planned or not.
