I half read something a while back about coldsores in very young babies being quite dangerous and thinking it wouldn't affect us as we don't suffer with coldsores, I didn't read the whole article. I'm now starting to worry a little because I think my little girly might be coming out with one!! I'm not totally sure it is, but don't want to take any chances if coldsores are really that much of a problem!! She's 14 weeks and hasn't come across anyone with a coldsore, as far as I'm aware (she doesn't go to childcare of any sort) so not sure how she's catch a coldsore! Even hubby said it looks like a coldsore!
Any suggestions or experiences would be much appreciated, before I get myself in a tizz about probably nothing!! Thanks in advance :)

The only way she could have caught a coldsore is if someone with one had kissed her....and to be honest if someone did they would be very stupid!! But you are right the herpes virus that causes coldsores is dangerous particularly to newborns however I have also seen recently what it has done to a one year old and it was awful!

I'm not sure what else it could be, perhaps if you are worried a trip to the doctors will do no harm. Hope all is well

Take a trip to the docs maybe. Impetigo can look like a cold sore.

Well it doesn't seem to have developed like a cold sore would, so I'm hoping she's all good. My mum suggested it could possibly be a sucking blister, as she's been sucking and chewing everything she gets hold of at the moment! So I'm hoping it's just that and it'll go with no trouble.
Thanks ladies! It's just so scary when you read these horror stories and then you start symptom spotting and worrying even more, even when you try so hard not to! Don't like nor would I normally indulge in being a paranoid new mum, but it's tough with the 1st! Lol think I'm over my daft moment!
