Coincidence?

After over 4 months of no sign of af she arrived today.

For the past week I have eaten completely clean, swapped coffee for green tea and cut out anything processed. I have also cut out carbs (apart from veg) and sugar/sweetner, dairy etc.

Swapped red meat for white and the only dairy I've had is from natural Greek yoghurt and goats cheese.

Coincidence? Or do you believe diet helps?

Hi this definitely sounds like you could have some form of sugar intolerance from pcos. I have this and believe diet plays a huge part. I notice from your signature you say you have "mild" pcos, what do you mean by this? x

At the time my bloods were done I had a hormone imbalance but no cysts on my ovaries so my doctor didn't 100% diagnose me. However since writing my signature I have had an ultrasound which shows I have a small cyst on my right ovary.

Please can you explain more about sugar intolerance? X

It defo is to do with diet. Look at my post from further down this morning :) x

Just read it, it's very motivating to hear that these small and easy changes can make a difference x

Ah, I haven't heard of "mild pcos" before, I'd be interested to hear what the clinic says as my periods only stopped when my ovaries were very covered in cysts and my blood sugar got out of control.

I've copied this from the NHS website for you:

Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas to control the amount of sugar in the blood. It helps move glucose from blood into cells, where it is broken down to produce energy.
Insulin resistance means the body's tissues are resistant to the effects of insulin. The body therefore has to produce extra insulin to compensate.
High levels of insulin cause the ovaries to produce too much testosterone hormone, which interferes with the development of the follicles (the sacs in the ovaries where eggs develop) and prevents normal ovulation.
Insulin resistance can also lead to weight gain, which can make PCOS symptoms worse because having excess fat causes the body to produce even more insulin.

Not saying that's definitely what you have but it hopefully explains a bit better the effect of what your eating has on your hormones.

Yay for AF though - I know how frustrating it is not to get them!

I think that cyst was the reason my periods stopped as when I had my first ultrasound I was having periods (though irregular) then they just stopped.

My dad has diabetes where he has to take metformin and also inject insulin so I am going to do more research into this as I know that pcos can sometimes lead to diabetes if not managed well.

So glad I finally cut all the rubbish out of my diet, even if it doesn't help my fertility it's still good for the body!
