Did anyone have a co-sleeper crib at the bedside following a csec? I am sure I read somewhere on a thread here, which I now can't find, that the cosleeper crib made things easier for night feeding/changing after a csec? We obviously have a long way to go yet before even looking at getting one, but in the interests of planning ahead, does anyone have any experiences of this and would you recommend one?

Thanks xxxx

I have one but Lo wouldn't sleep in it at the start, was so big to her it spooked her. Can see how it might be easier thoug. I had it anewly, I don't know if it'd make that massive a difference I'd have bought one if I'd known if have ended up with a section anyway, I never thought 'if you'd sleep in this it'd be easier than your moses' tbh x

Ahhh thanks... are they quite big then? I have never actually seen one in 'real life'. We have a crib which I loved for LO, even though by three months he was too big for it (more to do with him being tall than the size of the crib). Currently using it as clothes storage :)

Not too big, my lo is 13 weeks and outgrown her moses a week or two ago so I'm glad I have it, it was an initial spook when she was first born. Having said that it'll last her till. She's six months and ready for her cot bed and I do really like it,so does she. When she first went into it again we had a morning of giggles when she woke up and saw me.next to her and she does sleep a lot better now she's in it, which could be coincidence of course. She's long too but I think I'll get six months out of It. Is a lot wider than a crib too which is good.

Never had one. But looking back after my emergency c section it would have helped a lot!.. I went home after 3 days in hospital and it was very difficult for the first couple of weeks, obviously things did get easier, but yes. I believe it would be a good idea =) x

I didn't have a section but I have a cheap home made co sleeper. It's an ikea gulliver cot, which can be assembled 3 sided. I put the mattress in at a height flush to my mattress (easy to put a couple of holes in to do this if the set points aren't suitable for you). I've tied it to my bed frame. It means she won't outgrow it before she moves out and if I wished I could have used it for her nursery cot afterwards, though I bought a cot bed for in there.

I keep her change bag next to us with a travel change mat in so don't even need to get out of bed for that. The lazy mother's guide to sleeping well, haha!

If you're concerned about the baby feeling too exposed in it, roll up a towel or blanket and put it under the sheet in a U shape and they can snuggle into that for security. Just make sure the top of the U doesn't come high up enough for the baby to put its face into it.

I love it, she's right next to me and in the night I just pull her over to me and feed her. I can lie and watch her sleep and sometimes she slides closer to me and bats me in the face with her little hand. That should be annoying but I just find it cute!

This sounds great, thank you for your advice.

I think I saw an IKEA 'hack' on pinterest that looked amazing and just as you describe. The 'lazy mother's guide to sleeping' sounds pretty damned perfect to me!

And as for the hitting in the face thing, I agree; I worry a little that I let my LO 'smack' my face too much, but it is too damned cute at this age to stop it!

I didn't have one I just had a Moses basket and the bought a mini crib. I'd definitely look into getting one next time though. I had an emergency c-sec last time and although it wasn't difficult I think a co-sleep crib might have been easier. My recovery was very quick though and because my baby was smaller it made life easier for carrying and lifting

Being a first time mum back 2 yrs ago i was scared and followed the books, however at 8 weeks i started co-sleeping, i wished i knew about the co-sleeping cots/pods...have you looked on baby things for sale in your local area for co-sleeper cots? highly recommend co-sleeping, its great.
I started to co sleep because i was so drained feeding through the night. xx

The tiny love portable mobile fits on it by the way, just as a side note x

I had a csection and my first thoughts on reading the title of your thread were test a co-sleeping bed would make life harder! Lol.

I really struggled with getting in and out of bed, so having half of the side taken up would have made it even more difficult to swing my legs out. I'm glad we just had a simple Moses basket on a stand that was easy to move out of the way.

Good point Durham.never thought of that actually that's true

Ahh good point actually, wouldn't have thought of that until I desperately needed a wee on the first night....... Sod it, maybe I'll just get a second mortgage and hire a night nurse.
