OK.. i know everyone is different but i went out today and bought a couple of tops (just plain casual ones from newlook) for after the baby is born. Now i was wondering how much your tummy goes down straight after the baby is born. I know its not going to be flat but is it still massive or just chubby? Im thinking i may take then back and get the next size up.

Thanks ladies!

I went out and bought some stuff when pregnant in the next size up to what I normally wear - and I only started to fit into them when DD was about 4 months :wall:

I was in my maternity stuff for a few weeks afte the birth before I gave up and bought bigger sized normal stuff.

Everyone is different, I found immediately after I gave birth I was wearing clothes from when I was about 4 months (ish), after a couple of weeks I was a size bigger than pre pregnant.

Tho I do have a friend ( or lucky cow  ) that was back in her size 8 jeans 4 days afer having her baby !!!

I would just keep your earlier maternity stuff for the first couple weeks when you will mostly be at home and treat yourself later on

Yeah everyone is different

I was back in my size 8/10 old clothes right after giving birth - to my own amazement

I was back on my 'comfy' jeans straight after birth. They are the slightly bigger than normal type jeans. I never bought maternity clothes, i bought just baggy tops and stuff from New Look as my bump was tiny so i still wear them now. I didn't have a bump til 4 months and i looked like that walking out of hospital.

I was back inmy jeans immediatly with DS this LO I was back in my comfier pre pregnancy clothes just because as I was a bit more tender Im just starting to brave my skimpier clothes at 10 days post labour but remember you will need easy access stuff if you intend to boobie feed.

It took about 5 days for my bump to fully subside so I carried on wearing my maternity jeans for a few days until they really started to fall off me! I didn't gain much weight whilst pregnant but I still found that I wanted to wear looser clothes for comfort after the birth so was happy to buy some clothes the size bigger than I would normally wear. It probably took me about 3 months to start fitting into my pre pregnancy clothes comfortably. I didn't diet to do this- I ate and ate and ate and said yes to every sweet thing going! IF I had eaten more sensibly I would probably have been in my pre preg stuff MUCH sooner!

I'm still in mat clothes :( . Going back down through them to smaller sizes as had to get bigger jeans as my bum expanded half way through pregnancy.

it took me nearly 2 weeks to fit back into my size 12 clothes after having each of mine, my belly was more chubby than huge

My belly's still flabby! It's just like a handful of loose (and horrible :( ) skin! People say breastfeeding helps it go down quicker, but Evie's 6 weeks on Saturday and it's still not flat!

Mind you, I did put on weight during pregnancy (which I'm trying to lose) and I don't think that helps matters! x

i wore my earlier pregnancy clothes like pants with drawerstrings in them etc

for the couple of weeks after i reccomend jammies!!! i left the hospital in them too! still in the mat jeans tho as i refuse to buy normal ones a size bigger..sick to death of them going to have a ritual burning once i get back into my jeans.
