Morning ladies I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas with your little ones

Has anyone been on a city break abroad with a baby/ 1 year old?

My oh and I aren't massive hot holiday people but love visiting different city's, this coming summer our little girl will be just over one and while we know that after this summer we will have to put a lot more effort into making holidays fun for her we thought maybe this summer we could get away with one more city break

I just wondered if it's just all to stressful trying to get/walk around a foreign city with a little one, we will obviously do our best to entertain her but I just wonder if it will be chaos

...I should add we do plan on a trip to centre parks in the autumn which will be more fun for her, I'm not trying to leave her out lol

We did a long weekend in York for my eldest's 1st birthday.
It was fine.
Then when they were 17 months old we went to Tenerife for a week (which was a sun holiday but abroad and fairly built up area).

If your baby is walking by then though (or even crawling a lot), make sure you factor in stop offs through-out the day in safe open spaces like a park etc for them to have a run around (or even just a toddle). I found mine would get really frustrated if not as obviously a guest house/apartment or hotel room doesn't tend to have as much safe space for them to move about as they would at home, and that coupled with a lot of time in a sling or pram can make them grumpy.

We took our lo to Egypt when she was 13 months old. That was a bit much tbh as she just wanted to get out of the buggy and crawl/roll around. It was OK as during the day she was on the beach/sun lounger or in the pool but I don't think I could have done a city break with her. I think you would need to do too many stops/ regimented meal times for it to be enjoyable. My mum offered to have our lo this summer so we could go on citybreak as she didn't think it was a good idea with her. We didn't bother in the end lol X

Thanks for the replies my mum has said she would have Lo for a few days if we didn't want to take her, were planning on leaving her with mum for a few nights next winter so we can go skiing so I think I'd prefer to take to a city but I just worry about the hassel. We have said the year after that we'd do a hot holiday where we can all chill by the pool etc

We're taking our LO to Greece all Inc so we can work it around her as will only be 11 months. Planning on doing New York before she starts school so we can go out of season. Hopefully will be easier around 3-4x

I'm hoping to do Kraków or Stockholm and there wouldn't be much sitting still, looks of things to see, I just figured she'll be so young even going on a hot holiday seems a bit pointless. I know she'd enjoy swimming and play time with us but we do lots of swimming etc here so we'd try and get another break where her dad and I can really enjoy site seeing and then next year we'll start the holidays for her. I guess I could wait a couple more months to book and see what she's like. I wish I knew when she'd start walking lol
