Chlid tax credit?

Am I right in thinking that if my hubby earns 20 grand a year we are only entitled to a really low amount of tax credit? Because I am thinking of packing work in (I hate it! ) but I dont think we would be entitled to much, I hope I am wrong!

On that amount i don't even think i'd bother applying hun. I wouldn't of thought it would be worth the hassle. My oh was only on £16000 a few years ago and i think it was only £10 a week. Heres a link to it and you can get an idea of how much you would get. Its the hassle that comes with it like not being able to do much over time if you want for only a small amount of money.

We get about £60 a month in child benefit... that's not what you're thinking of?

Nope i get £10.30pence child tax credit and £18 child benefit for my 10 year old,

I did check on some website a while back and I think it said that on 20k we would get our 18 quid child benefit and about a tenner tax credit a week so I think FeeFee is prob on the right money. Its a pittance isnt it? ! Thats why I was asking what other people were getting as I couldnt believe how little it was! Also somone I work with, who has a joint salary of 30k or something, told me that they get a hundred quid a month for their one year old. But they have two kids so is this why? There seems to be some discrepancies (sp) doesnt there?

I have done a few times its definately right sadly, until we have this little one then it goes up to £43 a week

hat about working fa,ilies tax credit? alex is on about 13k and we get 40 a week but have like 80 a week wftc..

i have just looked into this as im going back to work thought i would be entitled to working tax credits but we are not although can claim child tax credit as we are going to be using a child minder but apparently we will get the minimum amount which is £550 a year which is nothing compared to the hassle of filling out the bleeding form!!

I think that its somewhere around 16k thats the cut off. If you earn under that then you are entitled to more but if you are between 16k and 40k or something like that then you hardly get owt! How unfair is it that if you earn 18k you get the same benefit as someone earning twice that? Mad!!!

My OH earns £21,500 a year and I earn just under £4000 and we get £152 a month

EDIT: I wouldn't bother using the website to estimate how much you'll be getting, it's crap, many times we used it and each time it came out with a different amount, finally we got an answer when we rang up

Hi we earn more than that and we get £80 something a month and it drops to £40 a month when Jake is one. I think that applys to anyone earning over £25 thousand a year so if you don't work you might get a bit more than that. I think that if you earn £25-£58 thousand you get the same amount which is a bit unfair really as it is such a huge difference.
