I love chinese food, it's probably my favourite, but these days i just can't trust chinese restaurants anymore.
i've hear too many stories about lack of hygiene and have experienced a few myself but the food remains gorgeous each time!
right now i REALLY feel like chinese, and there's one just next door to where i am at the moment. but im so worried about food poisoning and i've obviously become more aware of it since i got pregnant!

so should i? should i not??? :wall:

I'm the same, DH and I had a take out in February and the food was far less nice than it usually is and we vowed to avoid take aways while pregnant because of the things you have mentioned. Hunt around your area for one with current/up-to-date training certificates, hygiene certificates and you can always check with the health standards agency, they HAVE to preform checks on these places and can inform you on past/present problems relating to the take out your asking about etc. We'll be on the hunt for a new chinese take away after LO has arrived!!

you could try making your own?

yeah i have tried a few reciepes like chicken noodles, sweet and sour, fried rice etc... but the taste is never the same! do u know what i mean?? real chinese food has that authentic taste that you don't usually get when u cook it yourself! i can't explain, it's an addiction i guess, but my health comes first! RRRrrrhhhh im starving, the more i talk about it the more i wanna go

Been there, done that, its just not the same. Even the supermarket versions of chinese food are not the same...it's like oven chips and chips from the chippy....big difference! xx

i know what you mean. Iv tried making simple stuff before but the flavours are never right :( . Maybe go some where youve already tried before...so you know there ok? Theres a few near me that i know are dodgy and wouldnt go too... got paper in our curry sauce once

my chinese is one place i can always rely on. i have used them for about 3 years and have never ever (touch wood) had anything wrong with the food or service. kebab houses are the worst the nearest one to me kept swapping management and the food is now the pits, good job they have finished the new shops near me and a take away opened a couple of weeks ago and so far food is great from them. i find the places that have an estate around them tend to be the best because their customers are the people who live closest so they have to make sure they keep them.

you have made me wanta chinese tonight now by the way lol

xxxxxxx

OH NO!!!

You mentioned chinese, my biggest craving to date!!

You know why it never tastes the same when you make it at home? Cos home cooking lacks the "magic ingredient" which is contained in most Chinese cooking - MSG (monosodiumglutamate)!!!

Seriously i must of ate a whole duck the way i was round it

im so lucky i didnt end up like 20 stone

Yeah, I hate that stuff, it always makes my heart go really fast and my eyes go puffy, they add more to some dishes than others and you can usually taste it.

We go to an all you can eat chinese in town, that's been established there for years. If you stick your head in the door and the place is busy, you can assume it's probably ok.

For the all-you-can-eats, the only problems I've heard of are with new ones, after a few months they're probably forced to clean up their act :)
