Had blood test this morning. Have to wait till Monday/Tuesday for results .
Hopefully all is well.

Have spoken to doctor (well receptionist) at last
Been told to go for a blood test tommorrow to see if ive got antibodies.
Im not sending Cameron today.
I dont mind cos im looking out for Jelly baby, but its a total pain because ive still got to pay her as she is still working and ill be losing hours because ill have to finsi early to get Cameron from school.

Do i send cameron to her.

She says his spots have just come out today so he is still infectious

Cameron has had chickenpox.
I called my mum unsurprisingly she has no idea if i have had them or not.

I would have thought id have caught it when Cam had it if i hadnt already.
Not sure what to do.

Id go to the doc and ask for a blood test to check to see if you are immune. plus i think its ok in tri 2, i think if you get it in tri 1 it can cause problems and if you get it a few weeks before you give birth, im not quite sure maybe one of the other girls know more

I got this off the NHS!
If you develop chickenpox whilst you are pregnant, you may have to take an antiviral medicine, known as aciclovir. This ideally needs to be started within 24 hours of your rash appearing. It does not cure chickenpox, but does make the symptoms less severe.

You will normally have to take this medicine five times a day (at four hourly intervals) for seven days. If you are taking aciclovir, you should make sure you drink plenty of fluids.

While you have chickenpox, you are infectious from about two days before the rash appears until roughly five days after. You should stay at home until all of your blisters have fully crusted over, which usually occurs 5-7 days after the first blister appears.
If you're pregnant, chickenpox can occasionally cause complications for both you and your baby. The risk of you developing pneumonia (inflammation of the lungs) is slightly higher if you are pregnant. Up to 1 in 10 women with chickenpox develop this condition.

Although the risk to your unborn baby is small, chickenpox can affect your baby in different ways, depending on what stage of the pregnancy you are in. The effects of these stages are outlined below.

The first 20 weeks If your baby is infected with chickenpox in the first 20 weeks of your pregnancy, there is a risk that your child could develop a condition known as fetal varicella syndrome. However, this syndrome is rare, and the risk of it occurring in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy is less than 1%. Between 13 and 20 weeks, the risk is 2%.

Although rare, this syndrome can cause serious complications including:

scarring of the skin,
eye defects, such as cataracts, which causes the lens in the eye to cloud over,
shortened limbs, and
brain damage.

TBH hun I wouldnt risk it! I have had chicken pox twice and shingles! I will avoid anyone with them!

you shouldn't have to pay her child has chicken pox and your pregnant so cant risk sending your child there its not the same as if your child was ill so you wernt sending him I would definately dispute having to pay for it with her its not very fair at all!

I've never had chickenpox but have been round kids with chickenpox and people with shingles a fair bit and still never caught them. I think you're better being safe than sorry, like others have said.

ITA!! Why should you have to pay? That isnt fair! :x

Hope it all works out ok, sounds like a real headache but as you say nothing comapred to the health of your LO. I would also challange paying the child minder its difficult as she needs to earn a living but hopefully she will ableto see where your coming from
