Hi ladies
Can anyone tell me how far in advance I should be getting in touch with potential childminders/nurseries to organise childcare for when I go back to work? Not sure if I'm thinking about it too early or not.
Thank you!

Depends where in the country you live I believe! .. By us, we are quite rural in Wales. I could look as little as a couple of months to even a couple of weeks before. Things aren't really full up here. I've heard of bigger places having too plan before the baby is born! .. hope someone can help you out a little more though, probs worth ringing around locally and asking them xx

Defo depends on area. I'm Newcastle and from other peoples experiences, it seems you can get a child minder easier than a nursery.

I would definitely start making enquiries sooner rather than later. My childminder is already booked up for new babies coming in September.

My work have a couple of nurseries attached and people told me I had left it too late when I registered my UNBORN child... I was only 14 weeks pregnant, and was told I should have done it the second I found out! We moved towns when my son was a year old, just before I was due to go back to work, and he was still on the waiting list!

Decided it wouldn't work anyway after we'd moved as I didn't want to take him on the train, so had to find him a nursery in the town we'd moved to... in less than a month. They all acted shocked when I told them when we'd need the place, and I got myself so unbelievably stressed out by it, but he was offered a place and it was fine, so my advice would be to start looking, but don't worry about it too much :)

Had to book a nursery place for my LG just after 20 week scan!! I was going back to work after 6 months though.
