We're debating over this, what are your thoughts on it? Yay or nay?

I love mine! Its the biggest of co sleepers and my baby stayed in it till 8months and we will keep it for when we decide to have another baby. Its definitely worth the money though I brought mine of a friend then got a new mattress. See if you can get one on ebay and get a new mattress. I also ended up having a c section so it was great for me.

A friend is selling hers, her LO only used it twice and she's asked for £80 for it which seems fair. Never had it before as our bed was the same height as the lower cot setting so just took the side off. We have a new bed now and need to get a new cot, so thought it would make more sense

Yes that is reasonable. I paid £60 but would have paid £80 depending on cost of new mattress. I got mine on Amazon I think. There abou£130 New so if your getting a new mattress make sure your haopy with how mich it is. If it came to £115 you might prefer paying for a new one. I do love mine though.

I got one second hand for my 3rd baby and only wish Id bought it first time round. I love it so much. Would defo recommend it! I also got a sleepyhead and rate that too.

Would it be worth buying a new mattress if her LO has only been in it twice, do you think?

I've got a snuzpod which is very similar, love it, little one is still in it after nearly seven months xx

I personally would. I got a new mattress for mine but I didnt know the lady selling it.

I have snuzpod too and will be getting a new mattress and using it again. I loved it!
I have seen the next to me one too and that looks lovely too. X

Just be careful when your buying them that you don't buy the old style where they went half down. A little girl died from it so they changed the design but if your buying online you wouldn't know. Just double check. There is no risk with the new style though so no one worry. Xx

My friend's son was born late last year so I think it's the new design?

I'll get a new mattress, for the sake of £20 I'd rather get new. Quite chuffed that I've got it for such a good price

I've googled and it was the bed best one so Chicco should be fine. I only wanted to put it out there because I buy lots if eBay and I wouldn't have known about the risk if someone hadn't shared the article.
They look like a brilliant design and I'm thinking of getting one so not put this on to stop people I just think it's better to know to avoid the faulty design ones.
This is the article https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....l-is-still-a-danger-says-heartbroken-mum/amp/

Thanks redbear, it's good to make people aware of the dangers absolutely.

I'm not one for buying off eBay myself, simply because I don't trust other people! I was fully intending on getting the bed first hand as Emma's Diary Sales page has a really good offer on for the bed, mattress, and 4 sheets, for £188.95 (link here if anyone wants it), but my friend offered hers when I posted a status asking if anyone knew of any vouchers which might make it cheaper, although to be fair that's already a really good deal.

I know though that many people like a good bargain and will buy second hand for babies as they aren't cheap by any stretch, so you're right to keep informed. That was one thing that put me off the Bed Nest, at least with the Chicco you can attach the folding side to the adult bedframe so the whole thing is kept in one place whereas the BN seemed to be a bit "looser", iykwim? Why the parents put the baby face down is beyond me, but the design was also at fault too.

I agree kumber you never know quote what you're getting so you have to be careful on eBay. Saying that, I've sold quite abit on there and most of the clothes were basically brand new so you can pick up some very good bargains.

Hope the cot works well for you, I've heard lots of good things about it. I would have bought one this time, but our bed was too high unfortunately

Deffinatly I don't want to scare anyone just to be informed.
I don't know why they put her on her belly but I know my friend did because she had a premature and that's what they had done in hospital. Maybe something as simple as advice like that from a friend who knows. Poor family at least they have changed the design as a result.

That was a bednest not a next to me and while I feel awful for her we are advised not to put babies on their front till they are older and the side should always be up. The chicco folds down but unless it's attached to your bed you have to put the side up.

Glad you got a good deal. Im sure you will love it.

We had the next to me with the sleepy head in and will use it again this time around as it worked perfectly for us.

No, I don't think you've scared anyone at all. This is the sort of thing parents of any age or number baby need to know about. I didn't know some hospitals advised that, I wonder why that is. Yes it's good they changed the design, although I'm sure that's no consolation to those poor parents :(

Pumpkin & Blueclass, thanks ladies. Hopefully it works for us, I'll pick it up on Thursday all being well!

they do sometimes in nicu but there they are hooked up to monitors and have a dedicated nurse who solely looks after them....unlike night time at home when parents sleep and can't monitor their babies.

I love the next2me but the moment my little girl starts shufflinh herself around or rolling then she's in a proper cot and no more next2me and sleepyhead. That will be a sad day...she sleeps so well in that.x

Certainly sounds a lot safer with a nurse watching 24/7, not an option at home but makes sense in a NICU setting.

I remember my eldest being around 6 months or so, and he wriggled onto my bed in his sleep and managed to get my pillow over his face. It absolutely terrified me and the side went back on the next morning! I really missed not being able to snuggle up to him
