No direct experience of Cerelle, although I was on another mini pill, Cerazette. I managed to find the info leaflet for Cerelle, which says the following:
After having a baby: You can start Cerelle between 21 to 28 days after the birth of your baby. If you start later, make sure you use an additional contraceptive method (barrier method) for the first 7 days of tablet- taking during the first cycle. However, if intercourse has already occurred, pregnancy should be excluded before starting Cerelle use. Additional information for breast-feeding women can be found in ‘Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility’ in section 2. Your doctor can also advise you.
I read that as if you start Cerelle between 21 and 28 days after the birth of your baby you don't need an additional method of contraception and are therefore protected from pregnancy immediately. If you start it after 28 days, you do.
Hope that's of help. I remember Cerazette being like this.
