I've got 2 cats - Oscar, 2 years old and Tobey, 1 year old.
Tobey is a VERY nervous cat and went through a bad stage last year of peeing on the leather couch a lot. We changed his litter to clumping litter and we scoop the clumps twice a day. It worked immediately. We have only had a couple of 'accidents' in the last 7 months.
Obviously with me being pregnant it isn't ideal (when is it though?!) to have a cat peeing on anything!! He doesn't cope very well at first with things changing and is the same around new people. It took my dad staying for a whole day for Tobey to be comfortable enough around him, now he runs straight to my dad when he visits!
With the baby due in 3 weeks I am getting really concerned that this change will be too much for him. We don't want to give him away, that is extreme last resort for us. Even the thought of not having him around is making me a bit upset the now but I know that I have to think about the baby.
My friend has an 11 week old son and whenever she visits he is VERY curious about the baby but after an hour he gets used to the noises and carries on with daily cat life! I am hoping that is a good sign.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
