I had a c-section 4 months ago. They put the cannula in the side of my wrist. It has hurt ever since but in the last month it is getting worse and worse! I can feel the vain in went in as it feels swollen, it feels like the ink part of a biro pen and i can move it around. Also it has started to make my hand swell up on the side inbetween my thumb and finger and is very very painful.

Has anyone had anything like this? Not sure what to do.

It sounds inflamed to me. I would have thought it would have gone down after 4 months so might be scar tissue from having the IV in there. If I were you I would try to see a Dr about it though as it is obviously painful.

If it was my hand, I would take some anti-inflamatories, use a warm compress and call the doc.

I hope you get it sorted soon. After a c-sec, your hand is the last thing you think of!

I have a scar on my hand from the cannula but it doesn't hurt so I've not been concerned by it, if I was u I would defo get it checked out at docs hun.

Could anything be left in therE? I would get it checked out at the doctors. Mine was horrendous where they tried and tried my wrist was so fat and swollen for a few weeks but not months later. Sounds a bit odd?!

I had a big hard lump where I had the cannula for the hormone drip.

It was quite painful for a while too.

However it went away after a few weeks.

I would get you gp to look at it if I was you hun.
