Forgive me if this is a really stupid question but I'm BF and my LO hardly ever has a bottle. OH fed him and has just left it on the side. Im about to put the dishwasher on, is the bottle, teat and top ok on the top rack or not?

apparently yes. and its the same as sterilising apparently! i would :)x

Right next stupid question then...

If I sterilise a bottle and put it away, when I come to use it (could be two weeks later) do I sterilise it again? I do at the moment you see.

I haven't got a Scooby when it comes to bottles!

I have but it can stain the bottles depending on what else is in there.

Itl need sterilising again-they only stay sterile for 24 hours x

yeah they say it shud need sterilising again - ipersonally never have as long as bottle is sealed as soon after... altho mine only cud be sitting 2/3 days really... i was only super super strict first 6 weeks....and as for dishwasher my oh did and one bottle went orange pmsl wasnt cute so never did again but knowing me we had chinese or summit haha! xx

yeah what emma said, 24 hours sterile. i sterilise my pump and leave it in the steriliser, and just turn the steriliser on when i need it :) x

Dishwasher works the same as sterilising, just be careful of staining as others said Lol

That said, I still do a rinse with boiling water after they come out to make sure. then seal and put away.

Apparently the staining happens with either cheap tablets or some other stainy food in with the load. I still either handwash or dishwasher them then sterilise, just to make sure.

Hi there,

:shakehead:Sorry but I never put them in the dishwasher, apparently the long exposure to high temps in a normal dishwashing cycle isn't good for the teats - they'll only last half as long. It can also affect the seal, making the bottles leak - not fun!!

I suppose it might be OK for the bottle's themselves but I wouldn't put the teats, rings and caps etc.. in.

I put mine in the dishwasher but made sure to buy BPA free bottles etc.
