ibuprofen? i accidentally took too much paracetamol yesterday (limit is 8 in 24 hours i took 12 didnt realise limit was so small) thankfully im ok but from what iv read on the internet if u take a big amount like that then just one more a few days later can be toxic so i dont wanna risk it- but iv got a bangin headache! is ibuprofen paracetamol with a different name? would it be safe to take one does anyone kno? thanx in advance

As far as I am aware they are different things. Toddlers can take calpol and baby ibuprofen, I would be assuming it is the same for us.

Ibuprofen is aimed more at muscular aches and pains i think!!

I've taken both together on doctors advice before xx get yourself some neurofen migraine, they are fab

i normally take ibeprofen (sp?) and co-codamol but have been advised by M/W to stay away from them while PG and stick to plain paracetamol.

paracetamol, aspirin and ibuprofen (neurofen) are all different painkillers.

You can take paracetamol with EITHER aspirin or ibuprofen but shouldn't take aspirin with ibuprofen.

You can't take ibuprofen or aspirin when pregnant unless on the specific advice of a doctor (some people need to take low dose aspirin for example).

Paracetamol is safe in pregnancy.

Paracetamol is usually best for headaches but aspirin and ibuprofen works well too.

Children under 12 MUST NOT take aspirin but can take child versions of paracetamol and ibuprofen.

ps. Doctors may prescibe co-codamol and co-dydramol as painkillers too. They are paracetamol with another painkiller (eg. codeine in co-codamol) so you can't take them with paracetamol or you will end up taking too much paracetamol. They should be avoided in pregnancy unless on the specific advice of a doctor.

what mg were the paracetemol? ive brought ones from shop that are 200mg and days no more then 8 in day, but ive got some from dr too to dave money but they are 500mg and to take no more then 8 in day???? difference of 1600mg and 4000mg in a day... shop ones are just extra careful but i would say you could probably take paracetemol and be fine
