Hi all,

I have been experiencing pain since about 12 noon at regular intervals but at the moment dont want to do much about it as I have been in and out of hospital so much over the past three weeks...

My question is do you need to lose your plug or how do you know if its gone???

I dont really remember losing one in my last pregnancy but definatley know what its like for my waters to go naturally..

If this persists once my husband is home and I have had a bath and taken some pills then I could be the real thing but i just dont want to go all the way to hospital to be sent home again.

Thanks for any replies
Take care

Hi I didnt think I had lost my plug last time with DS but then was told later I had had a bloody show, that was just like a menatral bleed that happened after sex.

This time I think I have had a show and it was like gloopy glue for thoughts of a better description, milky white and alot thicker than usual discharge.

Like your waters breaking you dont have to have a show to be in labour and some women may loose their plug weeks before they actually give birth.

Your pains will be a more reliable snese of if this is it for you, when you are ready to speak to the labour ward mention if you think your plug has gone though just so that they can advise.

Hope this is it for you as I know we have had similar crappy pregnancies, would be nice if one of us is put out of their misery!!!

  Thinking of you, do you have a text buddie?

If that is what happened to me it was about 33 weeks can it happen that early??? it was quite a big lump of discharge!

The pain is right in the lower part of my back and down my legs.. but like I say this pregnancy feels so much different to my first as this one is laying in the best position and my first was back to back. I am getting some quite painful tightenings.

I do no have a text buddie hun.

Take care

I don't think you have to have noticed a show or plug going as it may have leaked out whilst you were on the loo or in the bath/shower. The pains sound promising though :cheer:

Hope this is it for you, I would give the labour ward a ring for advice hun

Kathy, did you mention the gloopyness to the hospital when you were admitted recently? It can come away early but also your discharge may change so its never definate its your actual plug unless you get the MW to verify and I dont think you need to be fixated about ATM, your pains are the main thing. When I mentioned my plug had gone on monday nobody cared but they were a bunch of numpties anyway it turns out!!!

I think a call to the labour ward would be good just to put our mind at rest esp to reassure you about the plug situation, think about it, you were Full term yesterday and being your 3rd (?) this could be it.

I know how you feel not wanting to bother them but believe me they will only deal with you over the phone unless the absolutley think its nessisary to have you in...I get DH to do it for me then I dont have to deal with them and he looks like the neurotic husband and I can casually breeze it off!!

Ill send you my number by Pm if you want a buddy but if you dont use it no worries Hun, I wont be offended.

Good luck!!

I have never seen any of my shows and believe me i was on the look out every time, as for paracetamol i remember being in agony and a midwife telling me she would give me 2 paracetamol and take me back to the ward to which i told her dont be so bloody stupid i need some proper pain relief, i was examined and found to be 7cm dilated.
I would never even bother with paracetamol as have never known anyone tell me yet that they work.

 Crikey no shows with 6 that sort of puts it into perspective.

Kathy has her OH at home now and has my number to keep us updated if its the real deal and she gets time to let us know.

Kathy, Lots of labour dust being delivered to you right now, Good luck Hun
