Our cat, well, OH's cat (she doesn't normally come near me and hisses when I sit next to OH) has started to come over to me, expecting to be stroked and sits on my lap (she's never done it before) and curls herself into my tummy.

Do you think that she can tell that pickle is there?

She can! Looks like you have a new friend!

One of our dogs (the one that normaly favours my OH) has been glued to me since I became pregnant hun.

She even sits and stares at me as if she is trying to figure out whats different lol

xx

Weird I was wondering this earlier!! I'm totally sure they do know - they're so amazing! X

Yes they do know !!

Their sense of smell is incredible, dogs a bit more than cats, and can sense hormonal changes a mile off!! I've done behaviour consults for unpredictable/unrational behaviour in some dogs for no apparant reason..........then a random comment from their owner about having their period explains it all!!

I'm convinced one of my dogs knew that my recent PG had stopped......she is NOT affectionate but looking back she never left my side one day and kept laying her head on my knee. She's never done it since either!

Marvellous creatures!!

Yep,my staffie has annoyed the hell out of me for the past 9 months. He'l find the smallest space next to me and try and squeeze himself into it lol...hopefully he'l go back to favourin my dh once baby makes an appearance xx

My pet rat used to know when I was on my period, she would lick and lick constantly and sniff my neck loads (she liked to sit on my shoulder to watch tv!) xx

I also think animals sense it. I have two staffies who are sisters and they have been acting all mooky since I've been pregnant. I really do think they know. x

I think they possibly can! My dog who never normally likes to be around me, keeps himself to himself, has since I've been pregnant has started coming up to me when I'm on the sofa or sitting on my bed. He kinda sits with me. He never used to do this...hes actually just wondered in my room as I'm typing this and is now sitting on my bed lol xx

Oh my I was gonna post the same my cat is.being v v odd tonight he never sits with me doesn't like to be fussed and is currently sitting next to my bump and is full of affection
I even took a photo as its that rare. X x

Just found it strange, she really hated me, now she's lovely as anything!

When pople come round, she sits right next to me, and apparently (according to OH) when I went to the shop earlier, she sat on the windowsill miaowing until I came back.

Wow can they really? because ive noticed my bf's cat that used to always sit n my tummy facing my face when i wasnt pregnant had recently decided to sit on my boobs facing my belly instead all the time (obv this is when im laying down)

and the other night when sitting up, he was constantly nudging my tummy. which i found adorable!

apparently when the baby is big enough, a cat can hear its heartbeat as well as yours, so it gets confused. I've got 3 cats - one (female) wouldn't leave me alone for a second, she drove me mental lol. The other two didn't give a stuff (1 female, 1 male) which was unusual for Inzo (the male) as he was always very fussy before. I've also read that cats can sense a change in hormones!

I'm sure my cats know. I've got one which is usually a scaredy cat and she never comes near me but she has got much more friendly! Even cuddles now again from her!! X
