Calling all body piercers....

I had my tragus pierced 3 weeks ago tomorrow and I've convinced myself that it's infected and in going to die from blood poisoning!!! Irrational probably yes!!
Anyway it feels a little swollen compared to my other one but its not bleeding, each day it gets a little crust on the back of the ring but how would I know if its infected? It doesn't really hurt unless the baby catches it or I lie on it too much. The reason I think I'm dying is because I've gone to bed and got up with a headache everyday, ache all over and feel crap. Tablets don't shift it.
What should I be looking for? Xx

Your tongue will swell upto 4 times its normal size as long as there is no puss or smell its fine

Salt Water mouth rinses and you need to go back. For a smaller bar when the swelling reduces eventually can take up to 6 to 8 weeks sometimes x

You do need to go reduce the bar size as too long a bar will catch

Tragus Netty not tongue lmao!

I would gentle salt water soaks. Do not twist or turn the jewellery. Try not to sleep Ov that side either. Tragus piercings can take an age to heal as can all cartiledge piercers. Also if you've got a bug or a cold or something, piercings will usually give you the first signs!
If its not overly painful then I think its just had a little healing relapse. A little crustyness is totally normal. If in doubt though, nick back in to the studio and get them to have a peek xx

Infection would give you quite a lot of pain, swelling, redness, constant leaking of discharge from the piercing. Then eventually a feeling of being unwell. But if you keep up the salt water rinses and keep it dry and not irritated you will be fine xx

Thanks Simone that's great, oh so I shouldn't turn it? They told me to, maybe I've made it worse then. I will start with salt water today. Brill advice. Xx

It looks pretty red but you might have slept in it looks I would definitely pop back in and let the piercer have a good look at it. Even if it is infected, salt water solution is the best way forward xx

How many times a day Simone? Will I have to have it taken out? Will u need antibiotics? Sorry for all the questions, where I had it pierced is a 100 miles away from home xx

Turning it tears the healing process as your ear makes a tube for the ring..

When I did piercing people would come back and say Owww it hurts.. I'd say have you touched it? They say yes... I'd say STOP IT!!

Think of it like an open wound x

I would say use the salt water breakfast, mid afternoon and before bed. I used to advise people to use the cool setting on their hairdryer to dry it as towels etc are never really clean enough for patting dry and oh want that area completely dry xx

We should meet halfway and open a piercing studio. I've decided.
