cabbage test

I have my 20 week scan on friday, probably won't get chance to do the cabbage test and post the results on here because i'm completing on our new house also on friday (i must be a bit mental), but i will do it next week and we can see if they match x

This sounds interesting - it would be good to hear back from anyone with confirmation from their scans! I think I will try this at the weekend (although SO will probably think I'm mad ) I think I'm carrying a boy but it would be nice for a girl - I will let you know how I get on

Well i just done it, i know its not my first wee but couldn't wait.

I got purple! I wonder if it's right, we'll soon see if it's a little girl when we have the scan!

I have 2 boys, would be nice to have a girl but I'd be happy with another boy!

I'm wondering if I done the test right, it said the cabbage water had to be blue but mine went purple so that probably influenced the test a bit. Might try again on the weekend and not leave it in boiling water for so long.

I searched for this online as I thought how much wee to cabbage water do you add ?, as this could affect the colour, here are a copy of the details I found- , let us know if you results change if you do it again.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:

• Boiling water
• Urine

1. Step 1
   Go to the store and buy a red cabbage. The size of the cabbage does not matter at all.
   Step 2 - Cut the cabbage into big chunks. The smaller you cut the chunks, the better your results will turn out.
   Step 3 - Boil some water on the stove and put in the chunks of cabbage.
   Step 4 - Let the water and cabbage boil for about 10 minutes or so. When the ten minutes is up, remove it from the heat.
   Step 5 - Grab a cup and go to the bathroom! Pee into the cup.
   Step 6 - In a separate cup, mix 1 part of your urine to 1 part of the water that the cabbage was boiled in. No need to save the cabbage unless you want to eat it. It's pretty tasty, so you might want to eat it!
2. Step 7
   If the urine/cabbage water turns pink or red then this indicates a boy result! If the urine/cabbage water turns purple, this indicates a girl result.

Keep this thread updated as it will be interesting to find out if this is true and worth testing, my hubby thinks its a right tale so i think im guna wait until someone else has done it an then see the outcome of the gender scan. Good luck all and remember keep updated x

LOL sounds great! Don't want to know sex at scan but this would be interesting to do, but would have to wait til birth to see if its right!!! Going shopping tonight, so will get one!

I have my 20 week scan on thursday and Im finding out the gender. I am doing the weekly shop tomorrow so will make sure I add red cabbage to the list and test before thursday. Im thinking its a boy at the mo, no idea why!
