Hey girls,
just a silly question really - Anyone buying things yet for the bean?? lol,
just i had to stop myself a couple of days ago in Tesco from buying a couple of cutest-ever newborn babygrows!... i would have bought them if it werent for my mum saying its still alittle too early yet. I think im gonna start buying as soon as ive had my 12 week scan (only days to go now!) think thats lots of time to get stocked up :D

Also another question, i read somone saying you see your midwife every month after your 12 week scan?? this true. - is this the same as antenatal classes or different. If different how often are your antenatal classes?

I was gonna ask this cos me and a few others were talking about it in another topic.

I've bought a few vests and a hat and Im only 6 weeks! If the worst does happen ( please dont let it!) at least I'll be able to keep them til next time :)

I haven't bought anything for baby yet, I'm waiting to get through my 20 week scan, I just feel that if (heaven forbid) anything was to happen and I lost my baby - I really would torture myself with those gorgeous lil things.

I really think it has to depend on the person, there are other that relish the idea of buying baby things to be ready and prepared and spread the cost....this is only my personal choice that means I will wait...I'll prob buy the bulk of stuff in the january sales too :cheer:

well i was building stuff up before i caught so if anything did happen god forbid it does,i will keep for next.already got a pram on layby to pay off and nearly paid it off just trying to delay last few payments until ive had scan

I really want to start getting stuff but decided not too, i feel like i'm tempting fate or something, so i'll wait :D

me too, i'm too scared! my mum bought me a pram which i'm really grateful for but when she told me i kind of wished she hadnt yet coz i didnt want to 'tempt fate'! my OH asked me a week or 2 ago why i wasnt showing any interest in looking at baby things or thinking of names. i explained to him and he was really understanding. :)
i'm the sort of girl who walks under ladders, steps on cracks in the pavement and does NOT ask mr. magpie how his wife is, so its funny that i'm so superstitious all of a sudden!

Hi

Even though its temping i have yet to buy anything till i know what baby is gonna be i have loads of girl stuff so if its a boy it will be real different
Katrina

I actually have a cute vest that i bought about 2 years ago when ttc cos i just couldn't resist it.

but i'm not going to buy anything else till i'm about 12 weeks (although i was REALLY tempted with a fleecy babygro the other day - had to drag myself away from it!

I'm so worried that things might go wrong, i just want the next few weeks to fly by so then i can really start to get excited - then i'll be doing some SERIOUS shopping :cheer:

since i posted ive bought a few things, lots of babygrows, pjs, socks and hats!

I bought a couple of babygrows yesterday and got told off by DH for 'tempting fate'. :(

I said I would be devastated if anything went wrong now and I doubted a couple of bits of clothing would make it any worse.

I'm waiting until the 12 weeks scan.

But I'm hoping to get a lot of stuff like Cot, Wardrobe, changing mat etc in the January sales :cheer:

omg! everyone is already getting stuff?

eek! i said i would buy stuff after my 20 week scan, but ive had that and still we've decided not to buy anything until after christmas, i'll be about 27 weeks!
I do think i would have bought stuff by now though if we knew for definate what the babys sex was, but we dont have a clue so its neutrals only. My mum has bought girls clothes and ive told her not too as we dont know for sure its a girl, selective hearing i think! :D

I havent brought anything because I learnt my lesson last time when i brought a couple of baby grows and it's very sad when you have to put them away knowing your baby is never going to wear them , I wont buy anything untill I get the all clear and I wont let anyone else buy anything either it's strictly look but dont touch.
Some people say it's bad luck to buy anything too early, I dont know about that, but why risk it?
I think the worst thing to buy is a pram that seems to be the thing alot of people say dont do, so i'm not getting that till the last minute (I still look though  )

I already know what pushchair, cot, changing table etc we're gonna get!

Some people might think that we're planning it all too early but I dont believe in all that 'tempting fate', if somethings gonna happen its gonna happen, just cos you've bought a few bits of clothing doesnt mean its any more or less likely!

Things can go wrong at any time in any pregnancy, even way past the 12 week mark, if we all left it til it was 'safe' to buy stuff we'd never get anything cos there are never any guarantees!

Sorry, thats just my opinion :)

Very true Kirsty, a friend at my husbands works went on maternity leave and got loads of pressies etc.
She found out a couple of days before she was due that her baby had died

I myself have had 2 miscarriages before 12 weeks and we're  things work this time. But if not we will keep trying and trying and will eventually get the baby that we long for. So we will need the stuff at some point.

We haven't started buying yet will will after the 12 weeks scan.

I think it's personal choice.

For me it was really more symbolic than practical. I only bought a couple of things.

I've not been buying stuff for our little one yet... feels a little too soon. But I do have the perfect alternative. My brother's baby is due at Xmas, so I've been buying baby stuff for them.

Thats one way to keep the cravings away :D
