It has happened literally over night! I noticed when I got out of bed this morning. I've posted bump pics which were taken yesterday in the tummy pics thread and you'll see my bump hadn't dropped and now it has! Is it normal for it to happen over night and is it normal for it to happen at 33 weeks? I've also got dull period like pains and had a really strong BH earlier today, it didn't hurt but it was really strong and took my breath away a bit. I'm not sure if I should phone my M/W as this could all be normal so thought I would ask you girls what you think?
Also does this mean that LO is engaged and how does the M/W know if they are? Can she tell by just feeling your tummy or does she do an internal? Sorry for all the questions girls, I'm just feeling a bit confused!

:? i had a comment today when me and peter went for our dinner,
'i wont sit you in a booth, i doubt you'll fit, how long have you got left... cant be long?!'
I think I have just busted out over night cause not one ignoramous bumped into me today and people was letting me get into lifts and through doors first etc...

Thats exactly what i thought when i saw ur pic i the bump thread, its weird isnt it? Its like its hanging now isnt it, do you feel like u have to hold it in place sometimes?

xx

Yeah it's normal to engage at any stage really! Some LOs don't engage until labour, others engage a lot earlier. It doesn't have any indication about when they'll arrive.

Lucie's baby was never engaged and she popped at 38+4 (or 38+5?) anyway, so it just goes to show!

Evie engaged somewhere between 36 & 38 weeks - No labour signs for me though!

I wouldn't worry about the BH... Sometimes they can come with discomfort. In fact, a lot of the ladies on here get discomfort with them sometimes but we're all still pregnant

Always ring your MW though if you're ever unsure, she's the expert

Hope you're getting all excited! Although it has no indication on when baby arrives, it's such a nice feeling to know they're in place and ready!! :cheer:

Oh and BH are always good because some say (not confirmed) that they help get the cervix ready during the the few months before labour!

xx

Thankyou girls

Steelgoddess - yeah I do feel like I have to hold it up! Its really strange!

Dannii - we are getting very excited and can't believe LO could be ready to come out!
Still looking out for that labour thread of yours!

Awww bless ya! be prepared for a long wait though  xx

Sounds like LO is engaged :cheer: , I've had period pains for a week or so and Oscar is 3/5th engaged :D I don't think it is anything to worry about though  At your next appointment make sure you ask the midwife to check. They normally do the lighter feel on the top of the bump to see which way bubs is facing and then she will press down quite hard around your pelvic region to check how engaged LO is. It is a bit uncomfortable but I think I'd prefer that to an internal :D

I find the botton of my bump feels really heavy now too and I quite often support it whilst walking along

Thankyou Mildly
Yeah I think I would much prefer to be prodded and poked rather than an internal!!

mildy, Ive had the same, Its a strange ache like period pains and the most unbelievable pressure on 'down there' last wed and yesterday (fri) my lil un was 3/5 engaged too.
feels like my bump is on elastics when i move i imagine it to make BOIIIIIING sound haha

Hope your feeling a bit more comfy now.

My LO has always prefered to be very low so my bump has been bottom heavy through out (i somethime think I could do with a bra to hold it up
DS loved to nestle in my ribs, I think when this baby is out Im gonna have to hang her on a washing line like a bat as she has been upside down for so long
