Hey,

I am 14 weeks pregnant and am finding it really hard to carry out day to day activities without getting out of breath. My breathing also seems heavier. Yesterday i went to the trafford centre and had to sit after every few shops. I have never been like this before. Is this normal?

It's very common for you to have low blood pressure in Tri 2 & because all the blood is working hard around bubs it takes blood & oxygen away from your heart & lungs. This can cause heart palpitations & breathlessness. Another cause is low iron levels. But it's more likely to be blood pressure. Just do what your doing - rest when you get breathless & if you feel dizzy try to sit down straight away as fainting is also very common with low blood pressure. I think I've fainted about 25 times this time around, but only actually fell from full standing position about 3 times. Once I knew what was coming I'd either sit or lay down with my feet higher than my head. A bit embarrassing if your out in public, but better than collapsing from a higher position & breaking bones!!!

It's normal hun... For the last 6-8 weeks my breathing has been horrendous!! I get out of bed to go to the toilet and just walking there knackers me out! By the time I'm layin back in bed I'm breathin so heavy nd my hearts beatin like crazy... Feels like I've run a marathon!!! It does get easier to deal with.... Whether it eases up or you just get used to it, I'm not sure... But I feel much better recently :)

Hope this makes you feel a bit better xx

It definitely seems to be the norm. I was really surprised at how out of breath I get that I asked the Doc & she says its normal due to your heart working overtime pumping the extra blood etc. I even get out of breath putting my blooming socks on now haha x

Ive been getting very breathless, i live in a second floor flat and just walking up the stairs leaves me puffed out. I've been getting dizzy spells too xx
