Just wondered if anyone else is still bf a toddler? Owen is almost 20 months and we're still going strong and I thought it would be nice to have a thread for it as I'm starting to get comments from friends and strangers and would like some like minded people to vent to. Anyone?

My LO was 16 mOnths when I stopped. It was really only because I'm expecting again and wanted a break before starting again with my next LO. I was only doing a bedtime feed towards the end but it was a lovely routine.
Pay no attention to the odd comments, if you and LO are happy who cares? It's healthy and natural x

Love this thread! I have not got an 'end date' to BFing I am just taking every day as it comes. C is five months old and I am loving every second. We battled for seven week to get C to latch so I am in no rush to stop!

I have already had comments about BFing.

You are doing the best for your baby so Do what feels best and most natural for you. Xx

Comments at 5 months! That's crazy.
Most of my mummy friends are still bf so that's good but co-workers think I'm crazy and that I'll somehow ruin him. I swear if one more person says "bitty" to me I'm going to slap them :)

I have a friend with a 3 year old. She still gives him a fast 5min feed before bed and first in the morning. They both love it. He now has a 3 m old baby too so as she has more than enough milk I suppose her first will still enjoy his drink for sometime lol :)
I don't see any problem If its ok for both of them.
Probably though after 4 years maybe kids become aware of sexuality and maybe that can create some problems with some people find it unacceptable but I suppose it all depends on the situation.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a mum bf a 2 year ok really.

I don't have an age that I plan to stop either. I was originally only going to do 6 months but Finn is 7 months now and we both love it. I don't see the point in stopping! x

Yeah C isn't a brilliant sleeper and I get told it's because I am 'still' BFing him.

Also I have had comments about clearly being one of those mums who will be BFing when C is five!

All my NCT group BFd so I am very fortunate in that respect, I get a lot of support there xx

I want to keep going as long as we can (and definitely up to 12 months I hope) but as I'm returning to work when LO is 10 months I'm not sure how I'll get on as I don't know how well I'd do having to express at work every day :( Have any of you had to express at work? If so how have you got on with it?

Heya!

C is only 5 months so I have only expressed during a KIT day and it was fine! Occ Health provided me a room to express in. I expressed twice during one working day.

By law your company have to provide you with a place to express or feed your LO and time outside of the scope of your lunch break/ normal breaks.

Not sure how old your LO is and what your working hours are but you may find at 10 months that your LO only feeds twice a day any way xx

I went back to work ft when Owen was 9 months. I expressed at lunchtimes for a few months but he preferred to wait until he got home to get it straight from the source :) It's perfectly doable and your work should provide you somewhere to express and store the milk. I quite enjoyed having an excuse to go and sit somewhere for 20 mins with just my iPhone for company.

I should of said that at first he would feed twice before work twice after then as normal on weekends. Now he's happy to just have a morning and evening feed on nursery days (weekends tend to be an all day feeding frenzy though :))

It really really narks me how judgemental people are about bfing. I exclusively express (and that causes a whole other set of problems when I go to visit family and need to express lol) so Cathy is fed from the bottle. I went to see my grandad and gave C a bottle while I was there, when I left he told my auntie he was glad I wasn't bf as he wouldn't want to see it, nevermind you can easily put a muslin over you and it's the best possible start for your baby! So God knows what people like him would think about bfing past 6 months/a year/whatever they deem to be an acceptable time to stop... xx

I'm still bf my LO who is also 20 months, however my supply is dropping big time and the milk seems to be getting a bit thicker at the moment so not sure whether this is beginning of the end as she is obviously getting less and spending less time feeding.

my almost 10 month old is almost toddling lol does that count? tho with being pregnant now my boobs hurt when she feeds and im sure supply has dropped a bit, gonna keep at it tho as she only feeds 3 times a day usually

I was thinking that Bev - my 10month old toddles. Lol

I was kinda hoping to do the full 2 years, but pregnancy may be putting a spanner in the works there!! Which sucks a little!!

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

no worries Lorna hun i know a woman who's child weaned during her preg and when her milk came in for baby before she gave birth her lb started feeding again
