ahhhhhh my nipples are soo sore blistered etc.. checked latch its ok apparently. i've also got that expensive nipple cream (l.. something) they hurts soo bad, its becoming torture to feed

bought some but LO wont feed with them, my nipple doesnt go into the teat bit enough?xxx

I used Mam ones - better than Avent imo.

I had to use them all the time.

Your nipple doesn't go into the nipple bit - its gets pulled in when LO feeds. Just keep trying

Yeah you just kind of place them on top then into LO's mouth - the sucking should draw ur nipple in. x

i think mine were just boots from memory not sure..

tried about 10 times he isnt kein on dummy, and i think it kinda is big the same, he just sticks tongue to refuse it will keep tryin tho, he gets so ratty and i just give in and do bare nipple, xx

Ah I found the boots ones to be crap! I bought them to try and they didn't work at all. Finlay hated them

Maybe try some other ones. Mam have a site you can order from as I could never find them in shops.

Keep with the cream. Try some breastmilk too Supposed to help and air them as much as possible

thanks hun, all i can think is my latching is wrong, its been 5weeks and they've not stopped hurting, m/w said my latch was correct, but i'm sure lo isnt on properly, as he comes off and feeds frequently, which are apparently signs xx

You might find the shields will help. I have small nipples so Finlay wouldn't latch properly at all and had to use shields all the time.

Speak to your HV again and say that you are concerned about the latch.

Hi hun, the most common cause of sore nipples is positioning/latch. Rather than seeing the mw is there a lact consultant/bf counsellor near to you? Possibly a drop in centre with peer supporters? In the meantime express a drop of milk and rub it into your nipples and let them get plenty of air - if poss just keep em out lol.

going to giv b/f councillor ring tomorrow see if clinic near me, be soooo good to b/f with no pain, i have sore nipples just sat here without lil one feeding, i've rulled out yeast infection too xx

Hi Charlotte, where abouts in Manchester are you?
Your doing really well, it does sound like the latch might not be quite right and sometimes is just a matter or using a different position as Kelsey said. I'd defo advise seeing a BF support cousellor as they have more knowledge than most HV's do and i'm sure they could really help you. Your doing fantastic, stick at it! Practise & Perseverence are the key with breastfeeding, good luck xx

hey hon. you're doing so well persevering if your nipples have been sore for such a long time as you & the others have said, it def sounds like a latch issue - i go to a support group and they're fab for helping out with problems like this, definitely give one a shot if you can. if you do use shields, i can recommend the mam ones; we've used every set going and they're definitely the best

awww honey you have my sympathy i only just put henry back on my left boobie after a week of not being able to put him near it cos of a gurt big hole in the side... i tried the MAM nipple sheild but he just weren't havin a bar of it and wouldn't latch...anyways we is ok now but i can't recommend breastfeeding group/cafe enough! I went to my local one last week and honestly it gave me such a boost - i can't wait for wednesday to come round again so i can go again the midwives told me my latch was fine but it wasn't cos i got such bad damage - i know this now cos he's a week stronger and have put him back on yesterday and he's sucking without hurting me at all even though i've still got an open sore on my nipple hope you get it sorted soon lovely xxxxx
