Breastfeeding Cafes

Has anyone ever been to one? If so, can you tell me what you did there and what it was like?

There is a brand new one opening here tomorrow and I really think I want to go along and see what it's about and perhaps with a view to meeting new people but I'm not sure.

Would be grateful for info from anyone that has been to one.

Hiya Debbie ive not been to a cafe but do go to a bf group everyweek and its been really good getting advice on all aspects of breastfeeding but also just meeting other mums and just chatting about all sorts.

You should go you will be able to have have a nice cuppa and chat to all the other mums and meet some new people. You can always leave if its not for you but i would give it a good go, and as its new it will be the first time for everyone there so you shouldnt get left out.

we have one every monday and I love it. Its a chance for new mums to meet other mums, get advice about breastfeeding if you have any worries or prblems as well as with weaning, sleeping etc etc. Atours we have a HV who can weigh your baby as well as answer queries. Plus its a chance to meet other mums, I have made some really good friends through mine and love going there (they do lunch and you get cups of tea made - bliss)

I went to our local one when Eva was 3 weeks and didnt enjoy it cos I'm a bit rubbish in big groups where everyone knows each other, but they were all very nice really, I just got stressed cos i didnt want to feed in front of everyone! doh what an idiot!
You should definatley go especially when its a brand new group, have fun!

I went and I loved it!

Made a couple of new friends. One with a 4 week old boy and one with a 2 year old girl and a 6 month old girl.

The Mayoress was there to formally launch it as it is the 4th to open in Peterborough and they even had a special posh cake made to mark the event (I didn't have any - I was good!)

There were lots of HV's there so if you had any questions about you or your baby, you could feel free to ask along with BF co-ordinators.

I'll be going back next Weds and even have some other things I know about now that I can give a go

Yay i am glad it went well for you hun.
I would love a breastfeeding cafe by me. There are a fews mums who meet in a cafe in town on a monday morn and they did a breastfeeding awareness week thing but nothing official with HVs available to see.
