breast engorgement and lumps

Hi ladies its day 3 since birth and since last night my boobs have become so so painful and full. Im bottle feeding. Any tips? How long can i expect this to last? Also, i have noticed a really large lump in my right armpit. Is this normal? Im freaking out!

Hi Hun! Day 3 is when the milk usually comes in so that's probably why you're so engorged. If you're not bf I would get a cheap pump and express 5 mins on each side so that your boobs feel comfortable again. That'll minimize the risk of mastitis. The lumps are usually blocked milk ducts which is why it's good to get pumping. Soon your body will respond to the short pumping sessions and your milk supply will decrease until they stop producing milk.
