hi i am 25 weeks pregnant and my freind has just informed me that if i carry on wearing underwire bras i will not be able to breast feed as the pressure from the underwiring will cause the milk ducts not to produce milk...i was geting worried coz my milk has not started coming fru yet and she told me this is why?? any body know if i stop wearing them now will my milk start coming through??i am realy worried i wnt be able to breast feed :( x

hi there, i have a friend who successfully breast fed and never wore maternity bras at all. Although they do recommend non wired bras from quite early on.

personally my boobs felt so uncomfortable that I've been in maternity bras since 8 weeks. last week had a sudden heavy feeling in my boobs which my mum later said she had when her milk started coming in (well the colostrum)

If you're worried, go and get fitted for maternity bras, they aren't that pretty, but so so comfortable. I went to Debenhams, the lady there was lovely and the bras she recomended are really comfy and wash so well

ok thankyou for the advice think ill take a trip to get measured this week :D...i just dont want to wear them if they going to stop my milk from coming through x

I can't imagine wearing an underwired bra now! It hurts and i love my nursing bras.

Not sure how true it is but it def says in most books to stop wearing underwire bras, think it's by tri 3. I stopped a while back as they became so uncomfortable. They don't have to be maternity bras (they can be pricey in some places) any bra that's good fitting without a wire is ok, materlan do some for about £4

I got 2 from debenhams, one in white, one in black for £22. totally worth it, wash one, wear one is my motto with them!

Whatever you get, just make sure it fits properly and that you're comfortable.

I agree with the girls they are soo comfy I've even fell asleep in mine one night after forgetting to take it off! Def get measured - Debenhams or M&S have bra fitting services, I waited till Debenhams had a blue cross sale on and got some bargains. You'll also find your clothes look so much better once you're wearing the right size as everything is nicely contained! x x

I couldn't possibly be wearing underwired bras now, they hurt too much and are not comfortable at all. I switched to maternity bra after about 10 weeks and they are so much more comfortable.

xx
