So I have no problem with my girls name, that is set in stone, always has been, I have a DS who will be 21m if I go full term, but he was born at 34w so we'll see...

My DS is called Jacob David, my hubby doesn't really like unusual names etc, he likes the following

Charlie, Robbie, Harry, Oliver, Aaron, Martin, Steven, Freddie, Frankie and Oscar

I like

Harry, Lewis, Lucas, Oliver, Thomas

So Harry and Oliver are the only ones we agree on, but can't use Oliver as my friend has a little boy called Oliver and my best mates daughter is Olivia (although I think Jacob and Oliver work beautifully)
Aaron is the name if his god son, like is our step-nephew, Mikey hates Lewis and my ex is Thomas so we can't use those.
I don't like Freddie or Frankie they would be shortened in school to Fred/Frank.
I think Charlie and Robbie are too casual in comparison to Jacob but don't like Charles and Robert.
Martin and Stephen are his mates names so no lol.

I just don't love Harry, I only kind of like it, I really like Oliver but our surname is Richardson and I'm not sure if it's a bit much, plus I have no idea on a middle name.

Please help lol x

I think Oliver and Oscar are very similar. My husband really really wants Oliver for a boy but says he would probably call him Ollie most of the time.

Do you like Harvey, max, William, Benjamin, Aidan, Findlay? All lovely names that aren't too unusual!

Maybe you can use Harry as the middle name? Or even Oliver. I don't think it matters about your friend if you just use it as a middle name.

See I don't like it as a middle name and think oscar is a little American, thanks for the ideas but they are not traditional enough for my dh's taste

If we're lucky enough to have a 3rd boy he'll be called Oliver :)

Obviously I like Harry from you list as well as Charlie, Freddie & Oscar x

John, James, Alfred, Henry, Samuel, Louis?! I find boys names so hard too x

We were convinced we were having a boy until our 20 wk scan so we had decided on Theo, not wacky but not too common either.

I personally don't like Oliver but we did have Ollie on the short list.we also had on our list:
Sam
Max
Jake
Finn
Will

I've always known what I want to call my son - Alexander :)

I had toyed with the name Jack as a middle name (my grandad's name) purely because I like it, but it has become a very commonly used name nowadays and I don't want to be seen to be following fads. Also half my family is 'named after' someone, they're mad for it! So I want to give my kids unique names.

For a middle name I'm thinking of either Rohan, Carson, or Findlay

Are you finding out gender hun??

What about Tommy?

Some of the boys in our family are:

Charlie, Max, Freddie, George, Robin, Henry

I like Lucas - were naming our son Luke if it's a boy anf=d we did toy with Lucas a little but we know two little boys called Lucas so werent sure and we love starwars lol

i also like Thomas.

our little boy will be luke Alexander John if we have a boy

were having this issue with girls names though... hubby doesnt like ANYTHING except Annakin which is just... no lol

Thanks ladies, if it was Thomas he would be called tommy anyway, but not christened as Tommy as DH likes traditional names, as for Luke/Lucas I have a step nephew called luke, which makes things difficult as his gf calls him Lucas.

Sorry re read my first thread, going to go in there and correct all the spelling errors and general auto-corrects lol

Nat, we will go with the same rule as with Jacob, If we can't think of a name by 20w we'll find our (although might wait till 28w as got a scan booked for then too x x

were picking names we like but not going to decide on definates (our backup for luke is alexander) for both boys and girls and see what the baby looks like.

my aunt named her daughter and when she came oiut - and her hubby went to call everyone and tell them about the arrival and the name - she said she just didnt suit the name. so in the end she asked the nurse what her name was and thats what she is called lol.

Bless that's lovely, we didn't set our name in stone with Jacob, that was our fab but we had a couple of others too x

there are still baby cards with welcome and the old name lol my cousin found them once and freaked out that she had a sister they didnt tell her about lol

A friend of mines sister is called Rebecca Elizabeth, and that's the name of the two midwives that delivered her, everyone was convinced she was a boy so they only had a boys name & when Bex was born they didn't have a clue what to call her - so her dad asked the midwives for their names and the rest was history. Really suits her now though x

So think that we've kind of settled on Harry for a boy, but what do we go for as a middle name? My DS is Jacob David so we want something traditional, I like Michael (which is my dh's name) but the initials would be HMR is that a bit close to HMRC? Also Is it a bit long winded as our surname is Richardson?

The naming game is so fun lol.

I think Harry Michael Richardson is lovely!

My Dad is Harry and one of my bro's is Michael - as is OH's Dad (its also James' middle name)

xxxx

Yay for Harry!!

Mine is Harry Colin after his Grandad :) How about James? x

Thanks Nat :)

Claire my nephew's middle name is James and my sis would not like me copying.
