We're going to let Jacob try out food very soon! I have just ordered loads of organic fruit and vegetables for him. (We'll obviously eat what he isn't interested in.) I'm just wondering what everyone else put in front of their babies for the very first time, what they liked and what they ignored.

Seems so long ago

I think I gave Finlay roasted sweet potato or butternut squash

Just try everything :D and keep trying

Have fun!

Thanks, we are really excited! I am reading the Gill Rapley book but haven't gotten through it yet. Can I start letting him try things like casseroles right away, or do I have to build up to things like that?

Personally I'd build him up to things like that and stick with simple stuff for now :D

1st day - she had banana and steamed carrot
2nd day - steamed carrot, brocolli, toast, banana
3rd day - I *think* she had a roast chicken dinner, I honestly can't remember

she was eating casseroles and bolognese etc by the second or third week

Toast and banana were the things we started on. Its good for them to have things they can hold easily too, so things like sticks of steamed carrot are great as well. We built up to things like casseroles / curries / spag bol/ Also her pincer grip was crap at 6 months so we didnt bother with things like peas and sweetcorn for a while, but now she loves them :D Peas are one of her faves, and she had noodles today for the first time which was lots of fun
