Hi, my LO is exclusively breast fed and I had started BLW over the last two days. I am thinking about introducing a formula feed in the evening as he has recently started waking at 3pm as he is hungry and before he would sleep through. Do you think this is a good idea or should I just carry on bf? And if I do introduce formula should I start on stage one or go straight to stage two, he is nearly six months.
All advice appreciated! :)

id stick with the bf but maybe give a yoghurt or supper type of thing an hour before bedtime so that he gets a lil extra food in there.

I think it will be fine with just BM but i would try a snack before bed too.

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

I started Harry ( he's 5.5 months) with a formula feed at tea time when he sits in his high chair to try and get a bit extra in him

I think he was getting hungry as he's very active and he doesn't seem keen on expressed milk from a bottle

I just give him normal stage 1 milk from a dippy cup and he loves it. Think it's
Cos it's a different taste for him

We're also starting with blw this week and until he starts to get some proper food in him I'm just going to continue with the formula at tea time

I would stick with bf if u r happy to hun. We started combi feeding at 5.5 months after exclusive bf, and BLW at 6 months, but LO still fed in the night til just over 7 months. I think it took a bit of time for him to actually get enough from the food to not be hungry at night anymore. Like others have said u could try a yoghurt or some baby rice or something before bed? It could just be the 6 month growth spurt tho and he may go trhu again on his own in a week or so xxx

I would stick to bf, your body will catch up if he needs more and your milk changes as your baby grows to what is required at each stage. babies wake for all sorts of reasons it could be a developmental leap, K never sleeps through. If you think its hunger maybe give an evening snack?

Thanks ladies, i'm carrying on with the bf and have been giving him more food, he loves yoghurt!!
He is still waking at night, but I keep telling myself it won't be for long! :)
