Blood test - positive for Gestiational Diabetes

..... Anyone else coping with this?

I had the test done tuesday and had to drink this orange crap that made me wanna puke and get all shakey, then blood test UGH!

Anyways, the nurse just called back and said that the levels of what ever they tested were elevated and tested positive. Now she's faxed me a special carb diet to do for 3 days and go back in wednesday for more tests.
They aparently make you drink loads more of this orange stuff and then take my blood every half hour for 3 hours

Im really freaked out

Poor you hun, i can understand why you feel the way you do!! Ive got to go in tomorrow for another scan as they think there is too much fluid around the baby and then see the consultant for maybe more tests!!

Im sure we will both be fine and it will all be worth it in the end, i know the tests are horrid but if it means there keeping baby safe and making you better then thats got to be good!!

hi hun not much help but i had it but it wasnt found till the week before i had hannah induced due to her size, i wouldnt worry too much they will keep a close eye on you know and it will go as soon as you give birth, i just had to have acouple of blood tests after i had hannah and she had glucose when she was born due to low blood sugar

No advice to give but I'm sure things will be fine, they will monitor you carefully for the rest of your pregnancy to minimise any risks to you or your bubs

I dont know much about it apart from - after birth it does disappear but might come back in later life or something. I have to also go for my gestational diabetes test on Tuesday next week - only because my grandmother was diabetic.
